Double-Half or One Ten without ham

Having (nearly) everything twice, being no longer just one of two in the week. Being a Pizza-lover like no other, disliking ham, hence the new title.

Ahoy, have some Labskaus

Or "Show and tell part II" :-)...)

No apartment was suitable today either. Too big (the bathroom had the size of my main room!!!), hence way too expensive, or right beside a main road. No parking lots and high up like fourth floor and LOUD.

So we went home and cooked Labskaus nearly like we got in Husum:

First step is to cook potatoes - we cooked them with the exact brunswick-timing. No, this time not with the accuracy of the atomic clock of the PTB - but with the egg timer saying "kitchen of ideas Brunswick":

No... Ingo didn´t puke in there ;-) Mashed potatoes with Corned Beef is what you see here, the bay leafes are out already.

With the dish you serve fried eggs - don´t forget to add salt and pepper there. Yep. It´s Home Brand from Woolworths :-)

Oh, and certainly a gherkin* belongs to this dish as well :-)

Decorate with some beetroot and here you go, YUMM:

You find the recipe at Ingo´s place.

* Nooo.... not even in former East Germany people are running around like this anymore - it´s just show, turn on the sound ;-)

I loved your photos and felt as if I were almost there trying Labskaus for myself. And I laughed at the commercial. This is so typical of commercials in the US, too: remember the "good old days" when things were simpler and purer (especially important when you're selling food.) The headdresses on the women were wonderful. Do you really think they wore these when they were working in the fields? No, probably only during a village harvest festival or something, but still... it makes a good commercial.

This "Spreewald" looks like a nice place to visit.

Ingo (we´re sharing one account - I´m Iris... hehe, too lazy to log out and in again) :Willow, thanks :-) We´re "still awake" (commercial break on TV - haaa, without dresses like that, though) - well. We put one serving to the bin since it tastes no good re-warmed - was yours, we guess! :-)

Will be back with some pics soon - and if you make it here and love the old stuff: We have the Sehusa Fest on the first weekend in September every year - if you make it here, we will visit it, too (I grew up with it and don´t go there any more)...
