Today I join Rain´s Thursday Art and Dinner Date with "November Rain".
I was 14, In Louviers and in love. And I watched "Purple Rain" in French just to have an excuse to cuddle up to 18-year-old T - it was a horribly lame, weird movie, btw! But the cuddles were sooo good.
T sadly days later moved to Rouen - we even helped - and likely now he is a doctor, that was his plan, to study for that.
Back in the day there was no internet so I lost contact - I was but two weeks in that family as a student.
The dinner was lunch AND dinner and very yummy:
I am glad and thankful I can afford this, believe me!
Others... many... have to look twice what they can buy. I was in a hurry as I am on a "webinar" for two days - payed by the agency for work and on top I get money for all the years I worked.
The place we live in is small but ours.
So, I can afford to say, yes, this looks yummy and I buy it - I worked for it in advance and I work hard now, too!
Even if I´m but a trainee others see me as "colleague".
Life is like a purple rain - weird!
"Our everyday objects and their unusual origin stories
Stainless steel
We all have tons of stainless steel in our kitchens, but not many people know that it was only developed during the First World War! Harry Brearly was trying to improve gun barrels by combining iron and chromium. He quickly realized that adding chromium made the metal rust-resistant, and so it was soon found in homes everywhere."
Now that is interesting, huh? And I didn´t even cook for this meme...

Dear friend Iris, I love ❤️ your sketch. Your dinner looks delicious. Henry looks beautiful in the watermelon 🍉 hugs 🫂 🤗 and much love.
I did not know that about Stainless Steel. Interesting series!
... metallurgy is fascinating.
Right now with the government shutdown and elevated prices, food is very challenging for so many who are going hungry. Meanwhile, our president is renovating a bathroom with gold and marble. Something is very wrong here. Your dinner looks terrific.
Hello Iris! Happy Thursday. Lovely purple rain and your salad looks delicious! Have a wonderful rest of the week. :) hugs!
Thank you, dear friend Linda, this was a a very early morning sketch as I forgot!!! Hope you have a great dear, warm hugs and much love to you 🥰
Yes, fun to learn!
And you are no engineer, huh ;-)
We get this in online news only - freaky what happens! REWE did a good job :-)
Henry
I love it! And the lion is amazing. I'd hate to be the first person in the buffet line.
Caprese salad is great, especially when you can get really fresh vine-ripened tomatoes and really good fresh mozzarella cheese! I enjoyed your brief history of stainless steel.
I love Henry today, Iris.
Interesting about stainless steel.
just wanted to add our President is paying for all renovations at the white house along with other donors-No taxpayer or govt money is being spent on any of his projects to upgrade the white house
Happy Thursday-enjoyed your post loving Henry too hugs-I am on my third blog now haha hopefully this one will work so far good (kathyinozarks)
OMG that carved watermelon is amazing
Luv your purpkle rain
Much♡love
Your Caprese salad looks good. You can have my mozzarella as I don't eat raw cheese. The mozzarella has to be cooked like on pizza. Watermelon Henry is amazing.
Love your purple rain and yummy salad!
Lovely purple rain and your salad looks good.
All the best Jan
Purple Rain is such a great song. I haven't seen that movie in a very long time. But it sounds like a romantic moment for you, even if it didn't last. I hope it was a great Thursday. hugs-Erika
I never liked the song Purple Rain. Guess I am just too old for it! Never liked Prince either.
I am aware every day of how fortunate we are to have such a wealth of food readily available. Makes me feel guilty. Things are not good in the US right now for those who need food assistance. It is just outrageous that those in need should be pawns in this political game.
I love watermelon Henry. I knew about stainless steel, but don't remember where I learned it. Your delicious salad reminded me I forgot to buy bocconcini for my salad.
Nice dinner looks yummy..
I didnt know about the stainless steel info, thanks for that! its always great to learn something new.
Maybe I will splurge and get buffalo mozzarella this time.
Dear friend Iris, just stopping by to let you know I am thinking of you 🤗 ❤️
No matter how you turn it "we" pay, I think... In Germany at least...
It is a nice memory at least, Maria!
A fruitarien!
I am with you!!!
Thank you , it was yummy - but.. the series really is from msn (internet) - no credits to me...
Henry says thank you and yes... how life evolves!
Henry says hi and we both gibe a hug and hop over!
Thank you - "sweet" memories!
I love cheese in many a form :-) Henry cannot blush more!
Thank you and yum - hope they have one again!
Compliment goes to REWE (which actually mostly sucks!)....
Thank you, the movie was... bleh (as the song) but T was a nice "experience"... hugs and to being a teenager!
Yes it was a tough decision! Purple Rain.... no. But T... yes!
I feel guilty sometimes, too. We have crazy systems everywhere...
Bocconcini ?! I need to visit you! Still hope you might visit your Brother early next year.
You´re very welcome!
OK, not a cheapy, you are! ;-)
Thank you, dear friend Linda!! 🥰
Wieder ein großes Vergnügen hier zu lesen. Und ja... Da kommen wirklich VIELE Erinnerungen zurück.
Der Melonen Tiger ist mein absoluter Favorit 👏
Herbstbunte Grüße von Heidrun
Cannot leave the cat, but if she dies, I will visit my brother.
OMG Iris yes, Purple Rain was an odd movie...I remember seeing it in theaters when it came out and LOVED it, mind you I think I was 16? I watched it again as an adult and questioned my sanity as a 16 year old LOL...LOVE the salad, that cheese looks amazing, like a Bocconcini?
Yes, mozzarella it is, Rain! Oh, that movie... well... it was worth it for the cuddles!
