T STands For EspiriTo De Chile

We had the very most yummiest Goulash this weekend!
I made sure there is nothing icky on the meat, I´m sadly very picky with that, but if I do it myself I know I can just enjoy 100%.

Simmer for 90 minutes?! HA! 3 hours it was and we added wine, sooo yummy!

The meat so dry it practically fell apart  on the tongue, hmmmm - despite I like Jamie´s cooking, I´m not a fan of juicy meat (only in steak) and I am so lucky Ingo likes it that way, too!

It´s so cold now we kept the rest on the balcony over night, certainly safe from our Squirrel!

I trust he/she cannot lift 2 kg ๐Ÿ˜

I was pretty "sad" yesterday morning having the last bit!

Art-wise an oldie again:
Another 60-90-seconds sketch (This is what it´s all about):

And certainly this is for Elizabeth and Bleubeard´s "T Stands For Tuesday", help, I can´t remember who of you gave me the idea, it was yum:

I quit on the honey, though.
And Henry ๐Ÿฆ?
He shows you a bit more of his home:

The "steeple" you see is called the "Long Henry", our heat and power station just around the corner where we live. It´s 198m high.
And Henry´s still not high enough!

  1. I like my goulash with mashed potatoes, but I also trim the nasty bits off the meat and simmer for much longer than the recipe says. I don't remember the last time I made it, it has been a very long time.

  2. Yes, here it was a long time, too, hence a real treat!! Potatoes sounds good, too, esp as we have some!

  3. This sounds yummy, but keep the meat. I'll take mine with veggies only, please. And I love sauce. My foodie friend Sally calls me the sauce junkie. I say thank you!

Lovely drawing of the pregnant woman. Had to laugh at the red wine being left outside.

Yes, I also remember the apple cinnamon from last week. Your mug with apple is great. Thanks for making it and sharing it with us, along with your goulash, drawing, red wine, and Henry for T this Tuesday.

  4. Elizabeth ๐Ÿ˜‚ - the goulash was outside, not the wine!
Not a fan of sauce much here, but this was really yummy.
Thanks for hosting, it´s always fun.

  5. I love meat when it falls apart like that. Yum! Your dinner looks delicious. We store things outside too, but I've never used a weight on top. Good idea! Have a great T day Iris. Hugs-Erika

  6. We wouldn't dare leave delicious aromas of meat like that outdoors. Our squirrels might not be able to get at it (but then again, they might). However, it might attract our raccoons: bigger, stronger, and very persistent. Or the opossums. We really have lots of wildlife! I guess that's one reason to justify our huge refrigerators.

  9. Erika, yes, it was sooo yummy, I´m thinking of repeating it next weekend! Hugs!

Mae, awww. I know to you maybe that wildlife is rather annoying, but here you only see them in the zoo - so cute!

Tom, well today it was beans, boring. At least they were hot!

    ____

Kathy, potatoes sounds fine, too! An excuse for next weekend, maybe, plus we still have wine!
Henry is not there yet! Happy T-day!

  11. I don't think I know what goulash is, but it is great that you like to cook and enjoy what you cook. Ingo, too. Love your sketch of the pregnant woman. You are talented.

  12. You are like me when it comes to meat, I'm very picky with my meat. The goulash looks delicious. I've never had apple and cinnamon tea, will have to try it :)

  13. it's cold where you live? Not so much here in Colorado, USA. Your goulash sounds and looks so good... and so sad when you eat the last of a really great meal. I love leftovers! Squirrels are pretty sneaky, you never know what they can do... chew a hole right through bricks! lol

  14. magiceye, it was :-)

    ____

Sami, the original recipe had honey in the "tea".
Yes, awful with the meat, huh, I´m always sooo careful in restaurants and such.

    ____

LA Paylor, yes, sadly it´s cold. After a cold summer I would at least wished for a warm Autumn, but, nada, heating is on already.
German squirrels are weak, luckily, LOL.

  15. My Mom used to make a Hungarian Goulash when we were kids, and even back then I wasn't a fan of meat so I was very happy to pick it out and give it to one of my meat loving brothers:) Tis the season for hearty meals now isn't it...
And oh what a stunning view Henry has-wow! Just so he is on the inside looking out;) Happy T day!

  17. Your goulash looks good, but we're still having highs in the upper 70s, so my leftovers would have to go in the fridge. I like Henry's city view :) The apple cinnamon drink looks cozy. Happy T Day

Your goulash looks delicious. I'm glad you could enjoy it for three days! Meals like goulash only get better when reheated. My mother explained that the flavors have time to develop and infuse the dish.

Happy T-day! Stay safe and stay well. Hugs, Eileen

  22. Goulash, stew whatever you want to call it tastes so much better as leftovers. I love mine with mashed potatoes too!

  23. Goulash would go over quite well right about now.

  24. Eileen, yes, your mother sure is right! When we have kale we even re-heat it the same day before enjoying it! Happy T-day to you!

    Jackie, I so agree!!

    William, yes, it´s the time!

  25. Ohhh Yumm dear Iris! I never had Goulash, but we have similar dishes that are influenced by the Spaniards in our cuisine and I do agree that whenever it's reheated over and over again, the flavors are just more enhanced! I guess its the sitting meat on the sauce. And looove that Apple Cinnamon! Iris I am still awed by the apple tea you sent me, it really really tastes like apple pie! My Dad loooves it just like I do so I always share it with him. I steep some on my cup and then steep the same bag on his mug hahaha Yumm!

  26. Oh, Stevenson, you made me smile sooo big! Such a wonderful thought you share the tea with your Dad! Even if he only get´s the second one, LOL.
Goulash is easy to make, just give it one go, two.. yummm, three... drool...

  27. The only meat I eat is chicken and that's occasionally.

  28. Apple cinnamon tea sounds delicious and perfect for fall weather.

I have never had Goulash before. For some reason it has never looked appealing to me.

    Lovely sketch.

    Happy Tea Day,
    Kate

  29. Raw meat before cooking is so disgusting. Chicken is the worst. Your goulash looks so good. I’m a Summer person, but the one thing good about this time of year is being able to use the sun room as a big fridge. If the squirrel can lift that lid, you have pretty strong squirrels. ๐ŸŽƒ Henry, that’s a gorgeous view. I can see for miles. Happy T Day

  30. It been ages since I had goulash, a good comfort food.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Bill, we don´t eat that much meat, either, but Goulash has to be beef...

    ____

Kate, you should give goulash a go, with mushrooms, hmmm....

    ____

CJ, I agree about raw meat, but well, the reward is yummy!
"Sun room", ohhh, I´ll call our balcony like that now! Henry is even higher today!

    ____

Dora, time for another go then!

  32. Oh you have to have red wine in goulash Iris, so yummy. Haven't made it for ages, might have to make it soon before it starts getting too warm here ๐Ÿ’›

  33. I love everything here, Iris. The goulash looks just fabulous, so delicious. And I really love your drawing. You capture the repose of a pregnant woman so well. These really are exquisite. Have you tried sketching again like this -- maybe you can't get the models, but even Ingo or T?

  34. Sorry I am so late in commenting. I have not made goulash in years. Yours looks delicsh. However, I would go for some apple cinnamon tea any day. Enjoy your day.

  35. Yum! That gulash looks very yummy. I'm like you, I trim off all the fatty bits. I cook mine in an electric slow cooker that I bought second hand for 10 euros a few years back. I like the meat cooked until it becomes little threads of meat. Then I have it with mashed potato (also home made of course.)
It's good that you had enough for three days. Dishes like that become tastier the second and the third day!
Great to see henry's view of Brunswick.
    Happy belated T-Day,
    Hugs,
    Lisca
