With this (not so yummy) beer I join Elizabeth´s T today.
The beer was... drinkable. But the steak, ohhh, look (and note Ingo´s t-shirt - if he get´s lost you know where to return him to (bad joke)):

We had the rest the next day, it was too much!
The journal:
Monday: Balcony time after work - customer is relaxed, that´s good. WRRRRROOOOMMMMMM. Seven times in a row, for long minutes each time. Lawn mower or such, a pain. Wish I was rich and have a house on my own!
We live in a courtyard, surrounded by houses, each noise doubles, triples....
Tuesday: Went to ESE for an eye-test. Supernice lady who trusted my Brother (optometrist, who checked my eyes last Friday), so ... no test, but tips on how to sit/stand at work.
Will get a certificate that ESE pays for my monitor-glasses, yippee.
Met loads of colleagues,we had a cuppa and chats.
On the way home wanted a burger but found a Döner-place that was like totally busy, always a good sign. Nice staff, too, and the Döner was YUM and will last 2-3 days.
The burger-place was empty...
Darn it. Now I know where to get Döner!!!! Usually I had Döner only in my home-town.
Customer called. Oh, this project is so complicated.
And... LOL, in railway everybody curses, the f-word came along a couple of times (it was not against me).

Wednesday: Got a translation-offer from "Creative Translation". Hm, no, thank you. In railway you should be precise... But... "Translation 'Manager`" is probably not how ESE should call me anymore...
At ALSTOM I did manage an external translation-company, but now I do the stuff myself...
Ack, these days everybody is called "manager". I am old, to me that suggests I tell others what to do... yet I manage myself. What kind of a word is that anyways?

fK said I looked so young yesterday :-) - she is 6 years younger than me, btw.
Thursday: mK led me through the weird customer-mail - yippee, got all the data I need.
Grocery. Wanted Vegemite (fK is after that), got Marmite, the British version and a nice, interesting chat with the staff-lady.
I made myself a Marmite-sandwich... wanted this and maybe will get it:
Came outside from the grocery, HEAVY summer rain, FAT DROPS. Went home, in the neighbor-apartment under renovation the worker, a guy from Iran, had the window open and was astonished I didn´t run - it´s but rain! I was wet to the bone, but I LOVE summer-rain! He invited me in - I finally saw the apartment opposite of ours - nice chat with the casual "du". If I´m bored and I can come over, LOL.
Maybe if I really have a bit time on my hands I´ll go over with a cool beer.
I mean... Even at Playmobil construction workers drink beer!

It was real funny. I think he worked "black market work" and asked me what I do, where I come from.
Architecture. "So you´re an engineer?!" - Yes. And he agreed it´d made no sense I tell a worker how to do the job right, I am just too small. > "manager" 🤣 I found my way...
Friday-day off: I could just puke. Now Ukraine attacks Russia real bad. The Russian people have nothing to do with Put#n´s madness, war is just... can´t P just drop dead? How long will this go on? What do you want with a destroyed country?
I understand Ukraine, though, and they protect us, too!
A man from Somalia who killed a man in Bavaria with over 100 knife-stitches and cut his head off was allowed to go to the cinema and fled - they caught him (lots of our tax-money involved with helicopters etc), but why give such a man such an allowance??? "Highly dangerous" he was reported. And then go to the cinema?! It´s called "controlled release". Controlled fleeing???
And Baby Orange was in the news again, too. Ack.
Ingo "repaired" my TV, hence I could watch - Yipeee! Change the channel. Watching "The Mentalist" (in German)

If you´re new, Max is my friend´s nearly 19 year old cat and as I love cats but have none... I get a daily pic, well, work-daily. People from former GDR/East Germany are really clear about that: Weekend/holiday is for family, this was an exception and she asked if she annoyed me with this. See. East and West... still different...
Customer contacted me and told me off for answering. Don´t contact me then! 🤣
He´s in Oslo, Norway, btw...
Weekend: Saturday: Went to Block House for some yummy steak and had a very nice chat with the staff. She told us about when she lived in Tampa Bay and asked for The City of Lights, Perth -I showed this before, but in case you missed it or just want to watch again, here goes:

An Aussie moved to Germany? I hope you get to taste his pies. I like Donor too but haven't had any in a long time. I have steak for tonight and cook it so it is red/pink in the middle. My ex always wanted it "properly cooked" all brown and dry. Yuk. Now I can please myself how I cook it.

River, fK is still looking - according to internet we have Vegemite in Braunschweig. It´s too expensive to send it over, I think - but thank you for the offer!!!! A lot!
I must stay away from Döner, LOL. And no, steak needs to bleed (a bit).
I hadn't heard of doners until I visited Newfoundland. We don't have the here, but they did there. Yours looks yummy. And Your steak looks good too. It's even cooked nicely. I know some people don't like pink, but I do. I hope your Tuesday is going well, and have a happy T day. hugs-Erika

Several middle-eastern restaurants here in. Ann Arbor have doner kababs on the menu, but I’ve never tried it. From everything I’ve read it’s definitely much more popular in Germany. But I think EVERYONE likes steak if they eat meat at all.

ReplyDeleteI admit I had to look up Doner...as it isn't served around here, (North Carolina) that I know of. I did have it once in Tampa FL at a very posh restaurant. They would bring around the meat on huge sticks and carve it off at the table. I think the restaurant is named after it somehow. I forget.

ReplyDeleteYes, I love a good döner kebab. Always been very popular in the Netherlands as we have a large Turkish population (ever since the 60s), but I learnt to appreciate it in Turkey went I traveled overland through Turkey to Syria and Irak (1971).

Marmite? No thank you. I still have a little pot in the house as my late husband used to love it. But not for me. They say Vegimite is similar (I've never had it), so I think I won't like that either. Sorry.

I didn´t know the Netherlands have many Turkish people from "back then", too- and I was taught the döner was an invention from the Turkish people in Germany???

Vegemite is more yummy. But, yes, similar in taste. It took me forever to like it.
