Recognise "Me"

or Being Down On The Floor

Yesterday we went to donate blood at the "Donating-Truck".
Especially Ingo cannot stand the squeeze when you´re supposed to donate in schools for first-graders and sit on tiny chairs for the meal afterwards.
(why do they always choose those schools anyways?)

Well, when it was finally my turn in the Truck, the lady (are they nurses?) came over to me, looked at "me" and asked, "you´ve been here before, right?".

Ummm, yes. That was in March I realised later.

"I remember that beautiful frog!", she exclaimed.

Sorry for the blurry pic... It´s just so you can see how big he really is :-)...)

Weird, huh? They drive through Lower Saxony, which has some 7.920.000 people! But maybe this only says something about how few people actually donate?

Anyhows, I was between smiling big and wondering.

Afterwards we went to Mc D. When they come with the Truck, they certainly can´t bring food, so they give vouchers for that Fast Food-Chain.

Ummm... "Fast Food"?
Out of 7 cash points they had 2 open. Two! And anybody could go. Means also families with kids who can´t decide which toy to take, people who search for money and.so.on.

That was anything but fast!

After some 10 minutes a woman who had donated fainted to the floor, who knows how long she stood in line already...

Now, guess what happened?

The Red Cross-guys came immediately to help, several of them.
And the other "guests"?
They hardly made space and especially the guy right in front of me stared the entire time. I hope his neck hurts badly for this! As did most guests, stare. One woman even pointed it out to her little daughter.

Hello?!
Would they want to be started at when being in a miserable situation?!

It made me angry and ashamed at the same time.
And then I felt a bit dizzy myself.
Who wonders? You donate blood and then have to stand in line in a sticky room for some whopping 20 minutes (at least! I didn´t look at the watch beforehand, still believing in the "Fast" with the Food)!

Will ask the Red Cross to tell Big D to open a line just for the people who come with their vouchers to make it faster next time. They sure have more power than just a whining me... And after all it´s marketing for them, right?

And I´ll never understand people who stare at others in bad situations. Ever.
Who wants to see the details in car accidents, what are they looking for, blood, lost body-parts, what?
If I drive by an accident and there are people helping, then I look away.
I´d only have a closer look if I was the first to arrive - and help or call for help!
