A Red CUBIFA II
A Red CUBIFA I
If Ceduna was full of Vampires, we would´ve been fairly safe back then in 1995.
Some hundred km before Ceduna we stopped at a rest area. Ingo did the cooking, corned beef with baked beans, this first time he added a new spice, we got minced garlic.
Tasting was a bit tricky, we both didn´t know it takes the garlic a little time to develop it´s taste…
Later in the night a roadtrain passed us and BANG! A stone left a little hole in the windscreen.
Next stop next day: Windscreen ‘O Broken in said Ceduna – really, what a perfect name, despite being angry upon the damage in the screen, I had to smile.
That poor man who fixed our windscreen! Ingo was very interested in how it all works and came very near.
My, I don´t wanna know how bad we smelled of minced garlic. The guy was tough and kept a professional face ;-)
In Broken Hill (yes, I know, Broken Hill was first, my mind was wandering around in my Panama) we got a tour for free.
I remember as if it was just yesterday (clichée, I know, but true).
We asked an elderly man for the way and he told us he´s got a little museum, if we´d like to see it?
Sure we did!
It was an old house from mining days - not much to see, but all the stories he told us - awesome!
And priceless - he refused any money.
And we both had the feeling he could need some...
Port Augusta... from there we went inlands.
Well.
Australia.
Is my Panama, I guess.
You really should read this book:
I bought it ages ago, before Amazon & co (see the title? English) - it has a price-tag in DM, not Euro, that old it is!
So, when Wednesday I saw this cup in Bro´s shop:
I exclaimed, "awwwwww...!!!"
And Bro: "Well, take it, it´s yours :-)"
It has a little damage. He sold it along with cutlery (back in our parent´s days this belonged to the category "Jewlery" and hence he still has stuff like that).
The customer came back and wanted a replacement and now the old one is mine :-)
Guess it´s for left-handed people, no?
Bro... just for the record, Bro said to me on Wednesday:
"Let me make you another pair of glasses, now that your eyesight has changed (a bit)!"
And he´s serious, too!
Am I spoiled? He never lets me pay for it (Niece will get some great pressies, I tell ya).
Ok, to be fair... one he couldn´t sell, one is an old one of his. The oldest is 12 years old.
But, hey... I do have a choice of glasses, huh?
I am some happy person, huh? Maybe my Panama is here after all.
I have the best Bro in the world!
And look at my balcony:
Maybe the sunflowers even make it to something:
If not... I still have some great flowers outside!
What did I do today? I mopped so hard I nearly fell three times.
Super-clean condo.
I should really go outside and read a book now - I´m on "holiday" after all!
Happy Friday (already!)!

You should definitely get out there more often and enjoy these gorgeous blooms Iris. I did enjoy your trip adventures, can't believe its the first time you've tried garlic, loooove garlic, but as you found out it has to be in there from the beginning while cooking haha!
Minced garlic, Grace :-) Over here it´s powder, usually.
Off to the balcony to enjoy the flowers!
HAhaha ... this is really funny!! I'm sorry it's taken so long to get to read your RED CUBIFA's, but I'm sure making up for it now!
Dunno if the guy in Ceduna would share your pov ;-)
