The first one goes to a lovely old man.
It was on the way to Townsville.
In the last place that had a Big W Ingo bought a thermometer, that we hung onto the middle in the driver´s place.
Rest area.
Ingo took said thermometer and hung it on the roof railing, telling me - who sat firm in a chair, writing a letter to my family - to NOT close the door... thermometer, right?
Ingo was doing (whatever), came around and threw the door close.
I can still SO laugh my head off!
The look in his face when the metal left his hand!!!
BOOOM!
Thermometer broke.
So in Townsville we stopped to ask if there is a Big W and that person, an elderly man, said yes, told us where it is and asked if we´d like a peek into the past.
SURE we did!
He showed us his own lille museum, explained and ... owwww....
He never wanted any money, he said we made his day (and he made ours, I still talk about it, right?).
If I tell ... no WHEN I tell this story people do think I make it up - but I do not.
It happened just like this.
We later went to Big W and got a new thermometer.

The mysterious old man we met in Broken Hill (SA), but was a great experience! ("I did nothing, but you learned about the Victorian living!" he said. Almost 20 (twenty) years ago! Time runs...
I LOVE that he had his own life museum. that's incredibly cool. And I'm glad you found a new thermometer! I smiled when I read that!
