The tea is not by itself here, a yummy cookie is the companion :-)

As a belated anniversary gift Ingo came home with this!
6 years married, together for 25 years :-) More than half my lifetime!
He took care to not buy a cheapy but picked the flowers himself!

My favourite cold weather foods are the ones I remember from childhood. Sausages with onion gravy and a good sized pile of mashed potatoes on the same plate. Mashed potatoes with anything else. Beef and barley soup. Cabbage, brussels sprouts, mum's apple strudel, dad's plum cake, eaten while still warm. Hot chocolate before bed.

Oh I remember that recipe of Jan's Iris, scrumptious! I love brussel sprouts but P not so much, this might be a way to change that 😉 He does however love both pumpkin and cauliflower soup thankfully. I think Ingo is a romantic at heart right 💜
Sadly Ingo cannot have Brussels Sprouts but once in a while, so... soup every day for me (OK and some I just fried). I never had those other soups! It´s mean. They STINK when you cook them and it´s COLD, so... dare to open windows and doors.
Yes, Ingo sure does everything seriously... ummm, romantically (you can be both, right).

Brussels Sprouts aren't a food I eat, but soups are such comfort foods especially in cold weather.

Lovely post, Iris. I would like to try your Brussels sprout soup. Because Brussels sprouts are not allowed in our house - lol. Sometimes I can sneak in some cabbage or celery, but I have to turn on all fans and open windows or my hubby gets sick from the smell.
I loved your reference to growing old together. It brought to mind a Robert Browning quote I've always loved. “Grow old along with me! The best is yet to be ..."

I don't like sprouts I'm afraid. when I married my (English) husband I was appalled to discover that sprouts were part of the traditional English Christmas dinner! I suggested changing to other vegetables. No! It had to be sprouts. Since then I have reluctantly eaten one single sprout a year, for tradition's sake.
So I will politely pass on your sprout soup invitation. Thank you.
