It´s cold over here now.
I wanted to take a shower.
Ummm, no, I DID, and it was mildly not freaking cold.
I have long hair, too.

I remember in Albany and Hervey Bay the showers - and the outside temps (yes, it can get cold in Australia, too!) were so cold, my fingers turned white, all the blood tried to make it´s way to the brain telling me to be faster, LOL.
The hot cuppa Ingo´d prepared for me did not really help (but a bit!).
(You can get free but cold showers in a lot of places in Australia, even in the Outback (and one was hot!!))
Ingo, the man he is, repaired it here. Analysed, bought, did.
Took one (shower) and came back smiling, ahh, worked!
I followed his steps and, my.... it works!!

Well, we certainly went in our beloved Nissan Patrol LWB!
I at times had no idea where the road really was, due to the harsh wind pushing the sand everywhere, but I got it right, I found the way, but we were FREEZING.
Hot showers available at the tourist info, AUD$ 1 for...dunno... 5-10 minutes.
I was like.. YAYYYY!!!
And Ingo... "here, have my dollar, I can take a cold one for free".
Ahhh, it was BLISS (with feeling a tad bad, too).
In 1999 QANTAS still flew from Frankfurt!

I´m still warm (guess I really had the shower on like REALLY hot) and I smile in delight, being able to have such memories.
What we did in Mt.Isa, apart from taking a hot or cold shower?
We had a Pizza from Pizza Hut, the Meat Lover´s one, as usual, believe it or not, it´s different (and luckily way less yummy) here in Germany.
(Why luckily? I´d roll on my own if it was as yummy here ;-)...)

Yes, especially the region around Sydney, but also Yanchep near Perth is on fire. It´s the tricky hot, dry time of the year.

Cold showers, that brings back memories for me. Living in Alaska, we had to have water delivered to our house. We had an undergound tank and the water truck came out and filled it (kind of like an oil truck but with water). We ran out of water one day and to take a shower we had to heat up some water, pour it in to a bucket and mix it with some cold water to make it warm. Then we would dump the water over our heads in the shower. Didn't waste any time, the "shower" took less than 5 minutes. Instead of taking a shower, we called it the bucket dump. :) Ah, the memories.

I had to laugh at the lion on the shower gel since you were making the point about showers. I don't mind a cold shower in the summer, but winter is a far different story. Before I got my new water heater, I had to heat my water in the tank before I could shower in winter. Summer was ok.
That looks like quite the adventure. I would love to do that, even if there were cold showers. But I know what you mean about cold showers. Brrr. Happy weekend. Hugs-Erika
Elizabeth, in summers cold showers are... "OK" and we had solar showers for a while while with us in 1999, too :-)
But in Albany and such it was really cold! Henry (ind Ingo and I) are "sensitive" ;-)

Erika, those were the best times. We were young, slept in the car, were free - and took showers - on 35+C a cold shower is OK ;-) Hugs to you!
I just can't picture down under being cold.
I remember being 16-17-18 and living in a house with no shower and no piped hot water. We had to boil water on the wood stove to wash dishes and out in the laundry was an old "copper" which we filled with water and lit a fire underneath and when the water in it was boiling, we would dip it out in buckets and carry them through the kitchen, through the pantry, into the bathroom, tip the water into the bathtub and go back for more, then put more water in the copper, stoke the fire underneath for the next person's bath, before tempering our own bath water with cold from the tap and actually bathing. I eventually moved to places that had a shower AND a bathtub, now I have a shower but NO bath and I miss being able to soak away the aches.
We used the same copper to boil water to fill the old wringer style washing machine and very soiled work clothes were often boiled in soapy water in the copper with mum stirring things around in there with a long smooth stick.
Oh how I wish I was freezing right now Iris, it's cold showers all the time at the moment 😱
