I wanted a cat. My Mum hated these animals and I got a biiig dog instead (I was 5).
We never warmend up, Inka and I, a German shepherd (what else)
I got a gerbil, she was sooooo sweet. She turned her life to "after school-time" and I just opened her cage.
I have NOT ONE SINGLE PIC OF HER! It was in the 80´s, I had no cam.
She carefully made her way up to my ear to tell me things. When she needed "to go" she went to her loo and came back, she was clever. She lived a long life in mouse years, but lonely (I did not know, I was a kid).
Next I got a white mouse, boy, she was dumb. Sorry, but... she did "her business" everywhere and...
I met a horse, Bürste, ""brush", a pain! I had to smash myself on her side to get her off of balance so I could grab her leg to clean her hoof!
Prior to that..
Next, a couple, mother and son. Mother, a pony, "mean". The moment she felt your foot in the saddle she ran off - Jack, be quick!!!! Her son? I looooved him. The father was a horse, he was taller. When I came in he knew I start with left leg, so - after a cuddle (yes, he cuddled) - he lifted said leg and let me do my work. He was the cutest!!! No pic :-(
I always had to be careful with his mum, she tried to bite me every chance she got.
I am small, I always "got" the small horses.
As in I was allowed to go to other places, I never had a horse myself!
But then.
Alexander. Black. Tall. A very big boy.
I needed help, I could not put the saddle on, that tall he was. The bridle, I could.
How????? He bent his head down to me!!! That sweet boy. Saddle. I had to adjust it to a very tall person, otherwise I´d had no chance to even "climb/jump" on.
He could´ve run, he stayed. I bumped into his back every time. He stayed till I was ready. I adjusted everything but he was so tall I fell onto his back so often... he semingly did not even mind.
After we had our "fun-ride" I was able to get the saddle off (buhh, some heavy thingy!!) and he bent his head down again to get the gear off and take a biiiig cuddle - Alexander, The Great.
He was great indeed.
Hilde. My parent´s in law´s dog, a boxer, Hilde. Big, no respect whatsoever, a pain.
Frida, the next boxer they got (Hilde had a good, long life with them) - STAY. She does. But later she silently sneakes up to get her "hello", to check on me and out of nowhere I get the hottest tonge in my hand.
I like her. But why do dogs want to lick you??? In summer I wear sunscreen, not healthy for a dog´s tongue! And why in the face, I wear glasses! Plus... EEEEK:
Would YOU like it if I licked YOUR face???
There were animals in my life.
Mr Mikesh, my SIL´s cat, I seldom saw him - as them - and now he´s passed. They have a new one I never met (thank you, Corinna), his name is Pepper.
Ingo does not want an animal.
Nothing to add, huh, I have my memories...

So you have no animal in your current life, either, I read from this.
It´s difficult when you travel...
Memories are good, aren't they?
Yips, most, at least...
We had a German Shepherd when I was young, also a cat and a cockatoo, (a pink and grey Galah), they would all lay in she shade together on a hot day and snooze. When I had children, we had cats and dogs, but only ever one pet at a time, until we had goldfish then we had plenty in a big tank. Before that, one time, we had tropical fish, so beautiful, but we had to move away and no one wanted to take them, so hubby flushed them down the toilet while I took the kids out so they wouldn't see. Now I just have one cat, Lola.
Ohhh, what a sweet picture it must´ve been, snoozing together like that!
Huhhh, I hope it was in the movie "Nemo" and the fish made it out fine!
To Lola 😻
We've had cats and a dog at home. They moved on in time. Always loved to see closeups of horses.
I miss furry friends a lot right now...
I can't imagine having a gerbil, they look too much like mice and I'm scared of those.
I can remember having cats ever since I was about 8 years old. About 1 or 2 years after getting married we inherited a small dog that we were looking after, when the owners decided to move to another town. Then that dog had a puppy...
Then we went to Germany and my sister kept the two dogs.
When we returned to South Africa we got a border collie - Honey - such a clever dog, as well as we had 2 cats. Then it's been cats all the time, they seem to adopt me :)
Nice memories and pics. Have a beautiful day!
Hilarious! No, I would not want you to lick my face. Haha
Inka is so Huge!!! And may I also comment on you and your brother's outfits! They look super cute! There are also a lot of German Shepherds here in our country and whenever I see one I always wanted to touch them but the fear is much higher than my excitement because it might just munch my hand in a single bite HAHA I love animals especially dogs! We have 8 dogs at our house but my closest one is Celyn. She loves sleeping so much but she also likes people. She is somebody who will be stolen easily because she is sweet even to strangers HAHA!
Sami, gerbils are clver and cute! Even in summer, and you know I have no hair on my legs, thanks dear nature, she never ever ever hurt me climbing up!
Even my Mum loved her!
"To Germany", you always make a joke about that! 😁

Liberty Belle, thank you, a wonderful day to you, also!

gigi... YES!! And my tongue... let´s not go into detail!

Dear Stevenson, those were the 80´s! LOL. My Brother rather looks like ...
Yes. They are called shepherds for no reason. They pick one person and weee... she never bit me but always protected my Brother when we fought, if it was with words.
8 dogs?! Who runs after all the poo???
I have o idea, but I think I´m a cat-person?
I had a German Shepard when I was 5. We were best friends!
I used to have lots of dogs and cats. It was a fun house with all of us. Don't have any now but I'm used to it and stil miss having some. My mother had a cat called Pepper, he was black with a few white spots.
Beautiful photos. Thanks.
Greetings from London.
My sister in law has a couple of horses.
I find it so odd that as a child you had just about every pet under the sun -- gerbil, mouse, horse, dog... but your mom said no to a cat, which is a clean animals, small, easy to tend to!
Oh that has to be tough to be with someone who doesn't want animals. I'd take a cat or a dog. Well I have 2 dogs but I have thought about getting a third. Loved seeing all these photos of you and reading these stories. Hope it was a good day. Hugs-Erika
Spare Parts and Pics, maybe they react better to boys`My Dad had one, too and they were best friends, also!

Bill, yes, my Brother´s Pepper looks the same! Well, get some again?
____
Cuban, you´re welcome :-)
____
William, horses here... an expensive hobby!
____
Jeanie, I had no horse, I was allowed to visit other people´s horses. And who knows - I can not ask anymore - why my Mum hated cats, maybe she had a hurtful encounter?
____
Erika, I have some feelings about dogs. They sure, if they like you, protect you. That would be so helpful these days!
But collecting their poo would make me gag every time... and the licking. I know it´s part of their language, but ewww. And our condo is just too small, too...
Urlaub machen? Wohin mit einem Tier? Die Nachbarschaft hier. neee....)
