T This HoT Week

Also got mint in there - yummy:

With this summer-drink I join Elizabeth´s T

The journal:

Monday: Oh.... Really... finally it warms up and in the TV-News: Tips how to sleep "in the heat at night". Ja. I sure do need that!

And AI... not so intelligent suggesting to translate German to English for me. I really had to laugh about that. It came from WhatsApp where 95% of my friends and their messages are German.

"Like the lion in the castle square" - that is the motto how they want to save the brewery Wolters here. I hope they manage! What would Braunschweig be without Wolters (since 1734) and their Märzen?!
Workers after the job done go and get themselves a Wolters on the way home - yes, in Germany this is allowed. I once in Cologne on a hot Summer´s night wanted a beer for watching TV in my hotel-room. Before I could say a word - plop! Open, so I had to drink in the street. Well, like everybody else. And no - no one is drunk!!!!

Tuesday: 20 minutes early at the ear-doc. Closed doors. After a while we were a group of 7! A man passing by shouted, "hey, all you - get well soon!" That is Braunschweig 😍
One nice dude, Ingo´s age, we had a nice chat - was even earlier than me despite being behind me in row.
He was one month early - and took it with humor.
I am angry on myself, though. My doc wore a beautiful summer-dress and I failed to say a word. Usually I do, but I was so tense...
TV-News: We might get 40+C/104+F, huhhhhh scary. No. Yippeeeeeee.... So far 29C/84F! Balcony-time!!!

Wednesday: Sitting outside on the camping chair was a BAD idea. Back hurts like hell.
fE had no time today.
They speak of the hottest June in Germany EVER in the TV-news.  And I am stuck inside, buhuu!!!
Buhuu, Toy Story 3 is done. Still have 4 but 5 will take so long to appear on DVD.

Thursday: News: Deutsche Bahn offers free heat cancellation for the rest of June!
Rails are not made for the heat, aircon might fail etc etc.
Not good...
Other eating gets better.

Friday: HOT, yippeeeee... But my back and Ingo´s hand....
It is very frustrating.
No balcony-time.

Weekend: Saturday: I get tired from all the sitting and lying. And I can´t go on the balcony cause the chair will hurt my back even more. And to top that:

... "felt 42C/107F".
That´s not fair!!!
Ordered crates of beer cause... back, hand,...  the dude was happy when I gave him a fiver and even happier when I said we live first floor! But he´d happily bring it up to 3+floor! Did I mention it´s not only hot but due to river Oker nearby HUMID.
It was nearly 5 pm and he said he still has 7 customers to deliver to. Tough job!!!!!

Sunday: I enjoyed the steamy heat inside. Ingo cooled himself down with a dehumidifier - no - I don´t want that! Cold temps will be back soon enough!!! I am thankful for the heat!

Munchy:

 Henry 🦁

If only I could join him...

Have a happy T-Day.

In rauhen Mengen...
Komm weiterhin gut durch die Sommerhitze!
Happy T-Day!
Alles Liebe, 🤗 Traude

Sorry about your back. Bummers! Too bad you don’t have air conditioning for really hot days. I swear it helps me a lot in Hawaii.

Oh goodness...you're dealing with the same heat as we are. We are in an extreme heat warning. Today is supposed to be a bit better but I see no breeze moving the trees so I have little hope.
I've started going to bed with an ice pack. It cools me down enough to fall asleep. Maybe you can try that.

Iris Flavia said...

I really enjoy the heat!!! I don´t want aircon ;-) The back is on the way up :-)

Iris Flavia said...

I sleep perfectly well! I love the heat!

We are to get a lot of heat this week but not as much as you had, Iris. It is always humid here.

Iris Flavia said...

28 tops today, RedPat. But, well, it´s olny June (well, today), I hope for the best!

Lisca said...

Woe! That is hot! Here the hottest this week will be 33 degrees C. That is quite pleasant. I. like you, quite like the heat. I'm comfortable, and as it cools down at night, I have no problem sleeping. And I haven't used the air conditioning yet.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca

YES! To a great Summer! I don´t watch soccer. Luckily - was drama today, I heard.
Cheers as in I don´t care! (OK I feel sorry for those here who do)

Good luck with ending the heat wave. We keep reading about it and it sounds like my childhood in a very hot, humid climate before homes were automatically provided with A/C — and we did not have it. We had a fan, which was ok if the night cooled off. I understand that this European heat wave does not have cool nights. So I really feel sorry for you. Ihope you get over it soon.

Hello Iris,
I am sorry you are still in pain! I always love your cute sketches.
It is hot and humid here this week some days will be 100° or more.
We really need more rain! Take care, enjoy your day!

We are in a heatwave this week. Thursday temps. might reach 110 °F! I think the weather dudes/dudettes are exaggerating and hoping. I'm not complaining about the heat. Winter will be here soon enough I hope you get more wood strawberries. Stay cool and Happy T Day

Iris Flavia said...

Nononono!!!! I LOVE the heat!!! No A/C and not needed! I´m good, I´m HAPPY!

Iris Flavia said...

Eileen, back s slowly getting better :-) And the heat so welcomed - and we had loads of rain, too - wishing you some, too!

Iris Flavia said...

Yes! Someone who understands! I am HAPPY with the heat and yes, cool will be back way too soon! I replanted some strawberries, too - stay hot and be happy!

unlike you, I can't take the heat. I love the cold. I am sitting under the AC right now, and because I only live with cats, I have practically nothing on.

Sorry to read your back is still in pain. I wish I could do something for you.

Enjoyed your calendar pages and drawings this week. And your citrus lime and mint Sprite sounds very refreshing. Thanks for sharing this week, dear Iris.

...Iris, you would love it here this week. It's HOT, HOT, HOT. 🔥

I'm sorry the two of you are still laid up with back and hand issues. Anything that hurts always seems to hurt worse in the heat.

Iris Flavia said...

Lucky you, dear Elizabeth! Most of the time it´s cold here....
Back is on the way up, thanks to Ingo!
To refreshing drinks :-)

Yuppsie, Ingo helps me so much with the back!!!

Iris Flavia said...

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, Tom!!!

Iris Flavia said...

Nah, Ingo got a new gadget to help me, so I just ENJOY the heat! (And complain about the back).

WE're getting the hot weather this week too. It's too humid (and hot) for me so I wish I could send some your way. And your Sprite cans are different from ours, but I like them. And it's great to see your journal. Thanks for reminding me I should watch Toy Story sometime. I've only seen the first one, and that was a long long time ago. I hope it was a super T day; I ended up out most of the day and I'm late getting by.. hugs-Erika

I don't like extreme heat like when I was younger, back then it didn't matter what the temperature was, it was all just normal for us in the mid north where humid didn't happen and the beach was five minutes away. Now I am old and Adelaide humid is torture for me, so I am glad to have airconditioning to keep cooler, but only in the living room, it doesn't cool the bedroom unless I run it on "high" speed 24 hours a day and I can't afford that. So I cool my bed with a frozen dry towel when nights are too hot. Good to read your back is slowly getting better.

Americans wilt without air conditioning.

Tine de Jong said...

I am very happy that the extreme heat has disappeared here in the Netherlands now, because 34 degrees was very bad for my body. It is 25 degrees now and much better, but higher temperatures will come again. It is more comfortable where you are. I don't use AI because a lot of it isn't right. I am for pure, just like nature is. Greetings, Tine

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, PLEASE send the temps over - it cooled down!!! Only 64F! Watched Toy Story 4 yesterday. Nearly cried... To a great July, hugs

Iris Flavia said...

Funny thing: I very, very much take after my Dad. Except luckily in this. 22C and he went, "ahhhhh, too hot!!!" - me... "too cold!"
When we still lived at Ingo´s Grandma´s place under the rood we sat with feet in a cold washbasin and wet towels around our shoulders... Only 18C right now :-(

Iris Flavia said...

Thank you, but noooo, hot, please, screaming hot!

Iris Flavia said...

Near to nobody has aircon here ;-)

Iris Flavia said...

It has cooled down to only 18C, yuck! Yes you still need to use your brain using AI - which is a good thing! Sadly many forget about this!

Dear friend Iris, today, July 1st is Canada 🇨🇦 Day and is supposed to be 40 today. I cannot take 😫 this heat.

I absolutely love all the charming illustrations in your journal pages. Del Rio, TX, is one of the hottest spots in the USA, so AC and a pool really help. Blessings!
