New Tradition

Yesterday I took off early in Braunschweig, destination Bornhausen.
Mind you, in this nasty weather many drove with the lights off, so dang dangerous! It was raining all morning.

From Ingo´s parents I drove to Bro – lots of work has been done in the old house! Still a lot to do. In one room Bro said that must be my stuff in a little chamber. Plus he wanted me to take my diploma and stuff home (I´d thrown it away, but also Ingo said, keep it, aw, well.).
What did I find in that chamber?

Shoes, heaps of shoes from my Grandma, my Mum and kid´s shoes.
Certainly after all those years not usable anymore.
Heaps of diapers and baby-clothes.
Insulating material, all rotten.
A box with two packages of: Peas.
Used styrofoam-food-boxes and much more rubbish.
In the last corner I found some… dunno 500 or more cheap “love-stories”.
By golly.

What I found in the other room was a banana-cookbook – from 1995, bought at Munro`s Banana Plantation in Carnarvon!
And a book you cannot buy anymore, at least not in Germany. It´s called “10 kleine Negerlein”.

Mind you we´re not even allowed to say “Negerkuss”, “Schokokuss” is the correct notation for Chocolate-coated marshmallow treats. Germany….

For lunch Bro ordered for me a, tadaaaa, “ten without ham” and this time it really was asked as a question if it goes to Braunschweig.

Bro admitted, last time he ate there he ordered a ten without ham, too!
“Tradition” he calls it, too funny, no?

So, if you ever come to Da Nico in Seesen, do me a favor and order a ten without ham please?

With the food we went to pick up Niece from her new kindergarten where she wanted to show me around.
Just. As she saw me she was too shy to do so…

But it didn´t take long, for lunch I HAD to sit by her side and after that she was ready for a shot in her Perth-Shirt for Ingo :-)

We built cities (Bro was allowed to watch only) and then a counting game – she´s not even four! And can count up to 50, forgetting the 12 only at times.
If I remember right I learned that but at school?

As well as I remember there was a pre-school-test where you were asked to hop on one foot. Guess what… Niece shouted. look what I can do! And jumped the whole way to her room on one foot!

The weather got better and we were able to go/cycle to the playground:

This girl can drive a real bike now!

Bro got a little sentimental on how fast she learns and grows up.

Guess she really takes after her Dad – while a girl much taller and assumably older needed to be pushed on the swing by her Mum, Niece again insisted on learning from scratch.

She even started crying as Bro accidentially gave her a first little push!

So you can fairly say it´s not her parents encouraging her all the time, it´s her will to learn, learn, learn.
When I see other kids so tall their feet nearly touch the ground in the buggy, yet the mother pushes the bored kid through the city… oh, my. Bet many of them still aren´t potty-trained, either!

On the monkey bars she couldn´t get high enough, totally fearless - well, her, not so her Daddy:

This playground is really beautifully designed and there is a BBQ-area as well and as known from throughout Australia. Advanced Germany makes it´s way, ha-ha…

Here she was so fast it was like Heavy Metal head-banging!

When I wanted to leave Niece again refused to say good-bye so I stay – I left anyways ;-)

Here we need to go some time again, I always get reminded of when I come this route:
