D'accord, Grace inspired me and so I watched the movies Bro gave me en Francais (huh, how do you do that accent, I can´t find it on my keyboard?).
By golly, the beginning was nearly facile, but when the actors started...? Il est mort, that I did understand, yay for subtitles I also got the rest:
Can´t wait to watch it with Niece when she´s old enough. She´ll laugh her head off on this:
And it gets even easier:
Well, to be honest once the Martian learned French, he was easier to understand than the other actors!
And again it´s not correctly translated, why do they always do that?
"Oui, mon Claude" becomes, "yes, Claude", what about "mon"? It shows the Martian likes Claude a lot, non? Why leave that out??
But certainly we will watch it in German then and actually it´s a very sad story, too...
But it was fun to find out how much French I still "get".
Not that much. but it really comes back, who´d ever thought that?
Funny thing, though: I have to put up the volume to understand, anyone with me here?

And "merde" got translated "Mist", manure...

He was a funny actor!
I love French movies, they have a very good sense of humour :) but Iris, I wouldn't be able to understand fully without the sub titles, j'adore sub titles :)
As a private person he was a very serious man, I read, Sami - weird, but that explains how he could do some of the funny scenes!
