I took yesterday off to be with my colleagues - doesn´t make sense?
It was the quarterly meetup with the summer-one always being a fun-event and this time we met in Braunschweig. Which makes sense, since the company is situated here, right? The Okercabana won and I didn´t want to stress myself driving from Wolfsburg and late in the evening cruising around for a place to park the car, and I have over 80 hours on the plus-side, so...
I planned to sleep in till 06:00, but got up only at 07:00, aw, well.

Lunch, yum, I love a day off!
Later I hauled up the bike from the cellar and made my way to the Okercabana, the beach by the river Oker.
You know me, I hate being late and I get lost quite quickly.
Ingo showed me on google maps how to find my way through the pathes in Bürgerpark, I printed it out (!) and was 40 minutes early.
Yes, 40 minutes!!!
Which was good actually. Because it really was stinking hot for wearing a helmet! Bet my face was more than red...
I needed to cool off!
And I got a safe place for my bike:

Since it can get cold the palms are just art, but we do have palms at our beach!

There are not only Indians, but Pirates as well, so take care!
There is a huge, but expensive bar (thanks, boss, for paying for us) but you got BYO, I really like that!
You´re also allowed to smoke, but...
...please use ashtrays! And people did.
We had to enter our raft by stepping through another - with a pirate´s flag, uh-oh, little did I know we´ll actually get threatened by Pirates!

Suddenly we were landing, a smaller boat gave us way. Huh??? What´s going on now?
Two colleagues needed to pee, can you believe that?! No, we weren´t on the water for hours, it was a 60-minutes ride!
So, the group that wanted to go on the smaller raft went through "ours", easy, huh? :-)
So much traffic on the Oker - well, this is Braunschweig, not Perth, you have to enjoy every sunny, hot day!
Our skipper was a funny mate! We got a quiz on this special tree, if anyone knew the name he would get... a beer for free:
No one knew, it was a tree from Caucasus, but my colleague S memorized the name, she goes on those tours once in a while :-)
At the deepest point - 9-10 m! - the skipper turned the raft around and around and around like a carousel, pretending we have a drift here, oh, my poor stomach! What a crazy guy! :-)
And then they came, the Pirates!!!
Shaking their fists and calling us "Sunday-drivers" - they sure were faster than us!
A kid´s Birthday-party, awww, cute idea, no?
Our boss had hired a volleyball-field for us and some went, our group, like others, went to the rented tent - enough sun for one day, right? When we sat down, we went in.
Benches with thin round feet do that in sand.
When our BBQ was ready to get - hmmm, yum, btw. They had kangaroo on offer. I liked it in 1999, but 2006 it wasn´t my taste, so I had to try it again.
Well. Not as "sweet" as I remembered, but not as yummy that I took another one, either.
My female colleague S had kangaroo as well, but later when we talked about bbq-ing tomorrow and I mentioned horse-sausages she said she could not eat that, such cute animals.
Ummm...? Kangaroos are cute as well, no? Female logic! ;-)
By the time we had the food we´d gotten up and down many times and felt like kids!
Just look how much the benches had sunk into the sand - and those guys are tall!
I´ll make sure Niece´ll get some pillows on her chair next time, it was odd!
Now I can understand how tricky it was for her to pick up a full glass of milk from a normal chair! She did a good job, I did not realise this!
It sure was a fun event, I consider myself very lucky to have found this company to work for!
Despite the daily drive to Wolfsburg.
The way home was surprisingly easy, I did not get lost. Thank you, dear brain, for remembering!

Gosh that's the healthiest brekkie and lunch I've seen in a while Iris :) looks like a fun day you had with your workmates.. personally if I had a day off the last people I'd want to see would be my workmates :)
Well there was mozarella in the salad, so... But yum! And I just love radish-bread!
Well, actually it´s to see the colleagues you never see cause they work elsewhere, or rather our team.
But in the end you hang out with the guys you know anyways....
This is called a "bonding day" with your colleagues!
