End of last week there was a little science fair in front of the "castle".
Not too interesting, but, awww that lion, no? Sadly not for sale (amazon UK, I´m at ya!).
Saturday was Ingo´s birthday and we planned to (and did) drive to Ingo´s parents, Bro and family wanted to come, too, so at the tourist info I got a sweet Braunschweig lion for a sweet Bornhausen lion (Niece):
Sadly Bro didn´t come, so R got the lion on Monday. Aw, well.
He said it was yummy.
For us we got two of these espresso-cups:
We also got Braunschweiger Heimbs coffee, local, fairtrade, not cheap... but no special taste. So this likely was a once-we-tried-it:
So far Henry did not bring us a cuppa as shown in the logo, though ;-)
In case you expected some words to this special day... I have none.
It was the 9th of November in 1989, in the evening, when the wall fell. Friday I went to school and there were sooo many Trabbis, it was crazy - we lived near the border, could watch East German TV (their sandman was way better than the Western one!).
People (Wessis) bought bananas and chocolate and put it unter the windscreen wipers of the parking Trabbis as a welcome, both articles were rare over there.
People were cheering all day, waving, many crying of joy, beeing free at last.
To me (and maybe many) Germany was reunited on November 9th.
And we had to give up a public holiday in June for today. Not funny.

You mention the reunification anniversary on the 9th of November, but it's only October...didn't get that.

The wall really did fall on November 9th in 1989. Actually by accident!

It took over a year to make it official:

The reunion was sometime in 1989 (in my mind). Since then, we grew up together. (East Germany = better engineers, made something without nothing "Mac Giver like") West Germany: "Volkswagen, the Auto" (Yes we fake!)
