Did You Know?

I´m reading a "Lesebuch", the second Braunschweig Lesebuch, to be exact. "Literate" texts.
One of them is "Plan B".

There are some records this town comes along with.
I knew that darn soccer was first played in Braunschweig, when it comes to soccer in Germany.
As nice an effect as that a certain small Austrian man became German here and did a lot of bad to the world.

"We" also have the most accurate Optical Atomic Clocks with Perfect Excitation and the oldest double burial in German ground and also... this is really a bit weird, the biggest churchly graveyeard of Germany.

And the biggest Quadriga of Europe - we really need to visit her (you can walk up all the way and have a good look over the city).
I think, or do we? The author decribes it like this:
You find yourself standing right under medicine ball-sized horse-testicles. Hmmm, do I want that? ;-)
Shoot. Will I be able to see something else?!

The author also says, Braunschweig is known to be "denying", Braunschweig people are said to be unfriendly.
But that it´s not true. And he´s right.

When I came here in my Mum´s car... waaay back then, pre-smart-phones and such, I stopped and took a paper-map to find my way.
No, I could not do that, because: A woman knocked at the window, asked if I needed some help.

And I knew I was home :-)

(In Germany you have your city in the the number plate, I had "GS" for Goslar, but I think even if I had "BS" for Braunschweig the lady would´ve stopped to help.)

This is my home. I feel like a stranger going back to the town I grew up in. Where I know nearly no-one anymore.

How about you, if you moved, do you still have feelings for your first home, are there people you still know?

The author read we are a "B-City". A metropolis, but not as "cool" or "hip" as Berlin (I don´t like Berlin), Cologne (love!), Stuttgart (really?!), Frankfurt...
But he also says Braunschweig is a city that seems to be made just for you, re-arranged like....

... "The Truman Show", now this reminds me of Joondalup and movies like "Gone with the Wind" and "Lost in Translation"!

Off to have a look at those testicles as soon as we have a very clear sky ;-)

Lion of the day:

See, everybody loves him :-)

Haha! Be sure to take those testicles from an interesting angle Iris 😉 I have to admit growing up in Central Africa was brilliant and it did take me a while to feel more at home in Perth than there. I never felt that way about Scotland because we left when I was four, so no real memories. Now I'm like you, it's definitely Perth rather than the bigger cities like Sydney and Melbourne xox p.s. raining in Perth today 💙

Still cloudy today, Grace, no testicle day (guess there is a new word for these days?) - awww, you lived in so many places - and you found your home :-)
Rain yesterday here, too, and I got Eucalyptus Spray :-)

I passed through the countryside near where I grew up a couple of weeks back. It felt odd.
