I was teased by my sweet colleague back then he´ll hire a donkey on which I have to ride backwards for not being married turning 30 - not that he was and he is older!!!
It was scary to leave the 20´s. I felt so old.
And now... I´m about leaving the 40´s.
Ingo soon leaves the 50´s, so... those are but numbers, eh.
What does media, ads and all this do to "us"?
Life is only worthy when you´re young?
Do your training, body- and brain-wise and all is OK, right?
To be honest... I can´t wait to retire. And I refuse to think of being tired!!! I hope of being fit enough to have FUN! Earn what you worked for all your life.
I started at age 5.
Take care of your Brother.
Then delivering newspapers, "fighting" the dogs, gosh I never jumped that high in school but then over a fence in panic! I even ripped my trousers.
Food factory, oh, it was so icky.
Undertaker (just in the coffin-making part).
Had mean and dumb and annoying (and sweet and nice!!!) colleagues.
Got stuck in mean traffic jams, once it took me some whopping 4 hours for 40 km cause a truck with geese littered the highway, 4 hours!!!
2001 we went to Maccas just to get him:
He STILL sings!!!
Can you imagine how "good" loosing my job did me?
I have two apartments for rent (would prefer to have my Mum still around instead) - it makes me not rely on Ingo´s money totally.
Well. 50.
Fifty.
4 years ago my then nice-boss called me "you young chick, you"
And two years ago I had to show my ID to buy beer (which you are allowed to from age 16!!!!).
Time, age, donkeys.
My Big Niece said I don´t look old, and that I´m funny.
What more can you wish for?
Ehhh-ahhhh!
And no, sadly I have no contact to that colleague from 20 years ago no more.
He kissed Ingo´s feet once!
OK, a lille beer was involved and Ingo´s apartment had flooded so frogs came to mind.
Frogs, donkeys, aw, we had fun.
He called me "Mein Kleines" and colleagues thought we have... you-know-what. We never had!!! Of course! I´d NEVER cheat.
He always invited Ingo as well on weekends (we both had weekend-relationships back then).
And he always put quickly his hand on mine on the mouse showing me a new trick on a program.
If Ingo wasn´t my man he would´ve been, but he accepted it´s Ingo.
There was one kiss and Ingo stood behind me, accepting it.
Cause he knows, I will NEVER cheat on him and it was this colleague´s Birthday.
To donkeys and wise, lovable people.
(He´s a Dad now, btw, a sweet Daughter).
It just came to my mind cause Bill shared a pic of Donkeys the other day 🧡
I´m married now. No ride necessary!
Meet lille Ingo here, if you like... Donkeys, soooo sweet.
Henry 🦁

I turned 50 earlier this year, it's no different except I feel more tired every day.
I turned 70 this year. I'm a happy person and I hope I will get older
Amy! This does not help, LOL!
We call it "Frühjahrsmüdigkeit" - you get tired in Spring - it will pass! It will, LOL!
____
Bertiebo, that sounds great.
Yes, just numbers. I blame the media, seriously!
Age is an attitude, Age is also just a number and mine's unlisted.
That is wise :-)
I´ll take "unlisted"!
That is a cute donkey. I used to think that those above 50 were really old. Now I am 65 and I don't think I am old except for the body aches and pains. Most important our hearts are forever young and I still think I am young. I want to do things that I used to do when I was young but my aging body reminds me of my age. Lol! I think Henry is cute too!
Remembering my daughter when, at the elementary school said to a friend: "you look like an elder 40 years old"!
In few days I will be 65 and, being honest, I can say that I feel myself old even if I practice sport every day.....
It's hard to say "I am young at heart" if the life was not easy.
However I am lucky and happy because I have a beautiful family: my wife, one daughter, one son and 4 grandsons.
Age comes along whether you like it or not, so best to deal with it and get on with life. Every day is meant to be lived. Reading about the instance when you were asked for ID to buy beer reminds me of an anecdote a young friend of mine (now with a PhD) told me. She worked in the local liquor store at Christmas, and she said the best they could do to brighten up a person's day was to ask for ID! If they asked for mine I'd fall down laughing,
Nancy, yes, let´s stay young - sad the body does not always agree...
____
Black Knight, happiness is the most important thing.
My Niece (12 now) years ago thought 50 is still young, LOL.
____
David, as my FIL says, get old or die.
The ID-thing becomes a pain. At age 30 I grinned, but by now... Some whopping 20 years later, that´s... I think... "a Euro every time for this and I´m rich" - not that I buy beer that often, LOL.
...age is just a number, but I must say that aches and pains come with each added day!
Henry face palms are classic.
Tom, that sounds frustrating!
____
William, right, he´s too cute!
Henry is having a bad day!
Face Palm, LOL! Bet he shook his head and grinned boyish.
People say age is just a number and you are as young as you feel and bla bla bla. Getting older sucks and anyone who says it doesn't... welll.... Younger people dismiss you, your body aches, and things just start falling apart. I am 69, and getting old isn't for sissies. I am very active and try to keep going with fun things in my life. Personally I hate getting old. I am happy that I don't look my age and everyone thinks I am much younger than I am. Probably not the comment you wanted. :)
I don't even remember 50 it was so long ago. I love getting older because it's much preferable to _not_ getting older ;)
Nicole, LOL. I just woke up this morning with a bad neck, so reckon you can welcome me to the club of getting there and looking not like that!

Divers and Sundry... life is what it is, huh ;-)
To me the word "decade" is a tad scary still...
Not everyone is cut out to be a funny old person. You take what's given you and enjoy the day as best you can. I once thought my mum was old and she was 42 at the time. I laugh at that now because I'm way pass that age. Just think of the wisdom you'll gain and be able to share with others. 50 is only halftime, you have another half to play. :)
It always surprises me what memories can come back when looking at a photo. :)
Bill, oh, no idea if I really wanna hit 100! I would need to eat fish every day, huh?
Yes, photos can hit :-) Well, good and bad.
Old at 42, bet she thanked you big - no Pizza tonight, Bill - and no ice-cream ;-)
You asked why I respected Merkel like I do.
First, she was raised, got her degree, and survived her hellish life in East Germany.
Second, she has never seemed vain when she gives a speech.
Third, she stood up to Trump and didn't flinch when he pulled all that crap on Germany.
Forth, she kept the EU together during hard times, like when she worked well with Obama when Russia annexed Crimea.
Fifth, no one respected Trump when he went to Europe and made an ass of himself. Merkel took over the reins and became the REAL leader on the world stage.
Sixth, she's stable. She got the EU through the currency crisis and didn't allow the euro to disintegrate.
Seventh, before Biden became president, Merkel would have been the true leader in the G20.
Eighth, she handled the migration issue with grace and aplomb. She told the world that how migrants are treated in Europe is how one should treat ALL human beings.
I could go on and on, but I won't because I fear I will upset you because you are the good West German girl and she was the good and responsible East German girl.
My last three teamleaders grew up in East Germany and it wasn´t that bad at all - they were free - in another way.
Maybe even better - the community was great, they told me :-)
Together and not that harsh, mean competition we have in the West (I saw this in Cuba, too).
Merkel was "Kohl´s Girl" - and Kohl opened the frontier to the East way too... dumb. "We still pay".
Merkel said "all refugees welcome". How is it there are so few women and children but so many young men? Women and children are left behind in the war.
Ingo provided me with pepper foam (and a stupid gun I won´t use) cause those refugees Mutti Merkel welcomed so much call me a whore etc.
Families are welcomed - and they take the (free) German language courses, they share their food, they ARE welcome.
I have to give my fingerprint, they do not and some get money in cities within a range of 100 km (Wolfsburg, Braunschweig, Salzgitter, for example) cause "us white people" cannot differ them. They take on different names and get three times money and never worked here...
Their families in Syria etc loose out on starting a new business, gathering the money to send their sons here... I could go on...
I´m sorry.
Yes, Merkel stood up against darn Trump - but she brought bad with her refugee "solution".
When retirees have to pay for public transport to see a doctor and "refugees" get the ride for free for fun, then something is entirely wrong.
(The real refugees, as said... they... don´t do and are welcomed).
As the years before. She took care of "the world" - but not of "her" people.
It´s interesting to learn how she is able to be represented in the world like this.
Sad.
But I´m glad you shared!
I have no idea who now really comes next...
Thank you.
Sad and interesting.
Glad we can exchange the representation like this.
I really would like to see how it´s on TV.
Trump at first was "the hero" here and then kaaaaa-booom. Not anymore. She...?
I think media are way to much powerful manipulating people...
One of the guys I hike with is turning 75. Incredible! I can't keep up with him now (I'm in my 60's), and there is no way I will be able to hike like he does at 75. I think genetics is very important.
I agree! My Brother is 5 1/2 years younger than me and when he was in his very early 20´s already looked older than me (so you cannot blame it on his kids, who came much later ;-)..).
My neighbor is in his 80´s and super-fit. When I visit him in 4th floor I have to take some breaths before ringing the bell - he easily carries his groceries and all up there.
I love the singing donkey. When I was very young, that was my favourite song and on my birthday Dad had arranged for it to be played on the radio for me.
I am feeling old lately because I had a couple of small accidents in the garden and now everything is aching, but when I am not aching I don't feel old at all. I am 69.
Ohhh, your Dad sure was very cute!!!
My shoulder aches and my ankle makes noises.
Ohhh... well. We need to go on and see the positive!
I love your little donkey! Hey, older is better. A few things aren't working the way they used to but in my head I am so much better than ever before. And by the way, I'm friends with all the guys I used to date. What's the point not, as long as they were decent people? We just weren't meant to "be."
