Out Of The Blue

1:1 meeting with teamleader was due  at 01:00 pm.
He saw I was online 07:30 am, I had forwarded him an e-mail the day before cause I had no access as admin and asked if he took care.

He called me, didn´t look at me.

I am so naive.
I was wondering why I only got five requests for SP-admin.

Turned out the woman I was to replace for the 9 months she took off to try and get her degree for the third time (!!!)... she did not really work!
Hence, when Durban, where I work as Bid manager full time, is done... there is nothing to do for me as due to Corinna no other bids come in.

He looked with a sad face at me and said he had no idea that woman didn´t do much, he cannot keep me.
He could throw me out within three days but at least keeps me till the end of February.

I tried - and managed - not to cry.
Well, I took to that later.

Luckily I have P.
She helped me big, couldn´t believe it but said, yes. She knew that woman didn´t work much, always with a cup of coffee from one colleague to the next, chatting.

01:00 pm teamleader gave me tips where to look for internal jobs - chances are low, though.
He said it´s not cause my work is not good enough, but no work comes in.
He said I gathered good skills and even if not Siemens anymore this is good for my vitae.

So said P, so said my Brother and also T.

I am not to question myself. It´s shit#y times.

I may hear from the company I work for today, but reckon they have nothing for me.
Have found 5 internal Siemens jobs I´ll apply for, if it´s not really what I want or am qualified for, I´ll try my luck, plus P gave me another address.

I, after crying my soul out, decided to listen to my heart and to the others.

P will leave the team come end of March.
And the others in this  team are a little... "better" (they think), so I would be quite alone and unhappy.
There are nice people! The admin, the macro- and the Visio-guy, but they are in other teams.

I did not cry IN the project, I did not run away.
I think I still have my dignity.
It hurts.
Despite some documents really were straight from...

... I was proud of myself I managed.
It was/is a good job, I am thankful I have till the end of February and not this week.

Who knows what´s next.
Jobs are rare, I know that I have loads of people who fight for jobs and maybe or likely are better than I am.

Teamleader said in the online interview I was so strong, competent, but when he met me for real I was shivering and fearful like a kid.
I´m not good at meeting new people and have to work on that.

Haha, how?! Tips are welcome.
The pics?

We have this poster since 2008, it moved with us and is a lille ... well. It went through a lot, like me, I thought this is fitting and instead of crying I should be thankful I got this chance.

T said, it was a limited job anyways, be it September or February now does not matter.

To be honest... I still feel a bit like a looser. And now I could kick Corinna big in the.... you know what. Will that virus give us back our economy any time soon?

You will feel good after a good cry. Nothing to be ashamed of. It is not your fault. You have been performing well and things just happened. You have gained much experience and you are better equipped for the next job. Who knows, the next job will be better than this one. Smile, chin up, be brave and look forward. I hope this help.

Thank you BIG!!!
You are right.

So sorry that your job is coming to an end. Sad yes, but like everyone told you, it will look good on your resume. Plus, you learned you are valuable and capable. The supervisors told you so and said they were happy with your work. That should make you feel good about yourself. Something else will come along.

Iris Flavia said...

CJ, yes, I hope so. Sad thing is... the job was mostly really fun!

I am very very sorry, these are difficult times but please don't give up. You have experience, you speak languages, you have a solid curriculum: fight for yourself and I am sure you will win!
And crying is a good way to relieve the stress. A relaxing run is a good cure too.
All the best!!!!!

I am so sorry to hear this news. You have made contact with new people and sometimes networks really can help you along. The people you have worked with will put in a good word for you when you apply for other jobs. So sorry.

You have performed well, the supervisors appreciate your work, and this will help with future opportunities.and things will start picking up now that the virus is starting to abate.

Sorry to hear this sad news. You did what was expected of you, did a great job and had contact with some good people. You should be proud of the way you conducted yourself and learned new programs on the go. Things change and you'll find something just as good.

What a shame :( I trust what you've learned and the experience you've had will help you going forward. But still... what a disappointment :(

It speaks well of you that it sounds like they thought well of you and your work and are going to miss you.

Semens bought out the scanner part of the company I used to work for, the still make then there. Tip be confident in an interview and put yourself across to them that you know what you are talking about. Don't show weakness

I'm so sorry to hear this Iris. But it has nothing to do with you. Remember that. You learned some new things and are now more qualified for something else. I bet the cry felt good though. Let out the emotions, and then (I am telling myself this right now for a very stupid reason) just pick up and more forward. And this of this as an opportunity to move into something that was better meant for you. And I believe you will my friend. Stay strong. Hugs-Erika

Oh, Iris, I'm so sorry. It's hard to put a good face on anything like this and I know it hurts like crazy. But they are right about one thing -- it has nothing to do with your performance or abilities. They were clear about that and they will give you an excellent reference and to the degree they can, point you toward other positions. You have learned a lot of new skills during this time which will make you even more viable and this job may end up having been a placeholder for something even more suited for you. Right now is the time to grieve the loss, then make that move to forge onward. Having a recent position with a good reference will be so helpful to you. You will find something new. I know you will. Big hugs.

Erika, thank you, I try to stay positive, yet it´s such a disappointment.
I hope I find something better - I want to work in Braunschweig, that´s the problem!
Thank you for your kind, encouraging words, hugs to you!

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, I thank you. I felt a lot better today. At least I am healthy (knock on wood) and P and I will meet someday and hopefully become friends in real life, too. And who knows, maybe something good - in Braunschweig! - is around the corner.
And yes, I learned a lot!
I seldom wanna kill MS Word anymore ;-)

So sorry to read this turn of events, but your boss was great in that he gave you to the end of the month.

Oh I am so sorry, I had hoped this would last much longer. but you have learned new skills to add to your vitae. Will the team leader give you a written reference, even by email, that you can use when applying for new jobs?
Shame on that other woman for not doing her work.

Iris Flavia said...

Dora, yes, it is sad...

____

Spare Parts and Pics, thank you, I try my best.

____

Elizabeth, yes. Let´s see, maybe today I hear from "my" company...

____

River, sadly no, this teamleader is Siemens, the customer.
I have to wait for the Brunel-teamleader...
I think, when I give back my work-gear, I´ll maybe brave up and ask the Siemens one what they do with that "woman", now they know she did not work!
But P said, she is in the company so long all they can do is put her in another project... weird, is it?!

I am sorry to hear this Iris. You are a good employee, and another job will come up. Now you have more experience. Yes, I cried too when I had to close my business. There are no other jobs for me. There are for you though.

Somehow, I missed this post. I'm so sorry Iris that you have to go through this all over again. So many people suffer because of what covid has done to the economy. Be proud of yourself and all your talents.

It's very sad that your job will end so quickly, despite your hard work and good qualifications. I hope you'll find a way to move within the same employer, or at least to find another job quickly. Some economic indicators look optimistic this year, so that might be good for your prospects.
