How sad, parrot Alex was found dead aged only 30.
The article says he could not only count, identify colors and objects, form sentences but also could express feelings, like frustration when the scientists came with the same tests over and over again.
He even instructed fellow parrots to "talk better" (or mimicking the researchers?)...
His "owner" said in the evening, "You be good, I love you. I'll see you tomorrow."
And Alex responded, "You'll be in tomorrow."
Parrots can get around 50 years of age, what did he die of, was he not happy?
I am not a friend of keeping such creatures captive, but Alex helped researchers to understand the avian brain and his death "left scientists at Brandeis University feeling as if they'd lost a colleague."
