Tom Tasty Is Dangerous And Where Do You Come From?

Yesterday - Wednesday - I went to Aldi to get Tom Tasty.
Turned out more than half was covered in mould! :-(

So, I had to go again today.
On a Thursday!!! Dangerous! Thursday they always get new non-food-stuff!

Yes, I admit, I fell for it! Aren´t those colors too cool? And for the balcony I need flowers anyway! And mini-carrots (minimöhre)... yum, no? Ok, see last post, no gardening at school, maybe there won´t be any edible carrots, but I´ll give it a go.
Spring, I´m really, really ready for you!

Also got this soup:

From Sonnen Bassermann. Over 20 years ago, when the factory was in my hometown - right across, actually, always with that smell, I worked there to pay for my holiday in Egypt.
After I came home with a cold, well, I was young, it wasn´t such a huge problem... (ask me now)

At first I had to fold boxes till my arms fell off. Man, paper can be strong!

Then I had to take the still very warm cans from one production line and put it on the next. The stupid girl who had to do but one thing, take care there is paper in the machine, she dreamed through her job and I was the first in line, grabbing hence the real hot can...

Third week then I was there to sort those little portions of jam, cheese, ham and stuff. Oh, jikes, so many grubs, ewwww...

I worked early-, -late, early-shift and was wondering even back then how people can do this for a living - it´s stressful!

I even brought home a cockroach by accident - yikes, I didn´t eat any convenience food for quite a while after that.

Luckily grubs and cockroach happened in the last week.
In the second I ate so much of that food!
Looking - surprise - younger than I was, the older men (yes, at age 18 mid-thirty is older, right? ;-)...) they made sure I have enough to eat and opened up many a can for me...

I´ll never forget the supervisor - she was really nice but had a bad strabismus, I never knew in which eye to look!

Hmmm.
So often I just grab convenience food, warm it up and gobble it down without a thought of the where-from, who-did.

Who knows, maybe some 18-year old student nearly threw this very can away cause the paper was empty again? (Hot!Hot!Hot!Outch!!!)
Hopefully she had otherwise as nice colleagues as me...
