Ingo came home today with this pressie from his car-sharing colleague, how cool is this?!
It´s a picture-book, "Braunschweig, the friendly metropolis" - it is, we didn´t find a date, some 20 years old at least, oh, what a treasure!
Obviously Ingo tells a lot on the car rides about how much we love our chosen hometown ... ;-)
Duke Henry the Lion was small, btw, his wife was a head taller. His hip made him walk not well, too, the book says.
Still he was strong as a Lion, politically at least.
In the end he fell off a horse on icy roads, broke a leg - and died from that somehow.
Carl Friedrich Gauss is mentioned as the only other person in this book, as are some references to being a city of science.

I guess back in those days a broken leg wasn't as simple as it is now, infection and all that! What a super pressy Iris, Ingo must have been thrilled oui!
Oh, yips, Grace, not only back then. I got an infection, too, in my broken arm and nearly lost the function of my hand...
