Ciao Frosty

On Wed, 9th, we got up as early as usual, 04:40.
Ingo asked me to check if the trains run as planned. And sure as hell. Not in time, it said online.
What a start, huh?!
We grabbed our luggage anyways et voilà, the taxi was there in time.

As was the train! :-)

Still I hate using the train!

Here´s why: In Würzburg we took a train to Feucht, a little hicksville nearby.
There we needed to get to the other side.
Really, I wonder what you do when you´re really old/have broken your leg/sit in a wheelchair....?
There was a lift - once you were down!
So, due to Ingo´s herniated disc I had to drag our trunk down. Heavy duty!

We found a place for taxis - empty.
I went inside the little shop and asked if they can order... no!!!!
Friendly is different!

So with the cellphone, which does cost money they would not have had to pay, I called the first number.
Unfriendly voice: No taxi available!!!
Second: No answer.
Third: No taxi!
I kid you not!
The fifth and last said: 20 minutes!

22 minutes later a nice lady arrived and brought us to the parking, chatting along in a southerly accent.

And there we were.
Also an hour later. Or two.
I called our bus operator - maybe we waited in the wrong place?

The bus started in Dresden and picked us up in the lunch break.

Finally:

Sööoooo.

?!!!!! I didn´t believe my ears, but yes. Dresden!
That´s lower Saxony.

Customer K once shared his office with a guy from Dresden and at times for fun talks in that accent - "horrible, I could not bare that!", I used to say.

And now us six fish-heads were to spend 10 days with 31 Sachsen!

Let me tell you: I can do the Sööoooo much better than the Italian guys who tried and I really like that accent now!

We had the funniest and very safe bus-driver,J, three months younger than me, and the funniest tour-/study guide, G, 5 years older than Ingo.

We sat in second row and were a funny group soon.
Thankfully second row, because... you know me, I´m the worst co-driver and first row sees it all and in the Alps you´re high up looking steeply down. My fear of height and I had a hard time already seeing it to the side!

And, boy. The Alps are freezing cold, yet the hotel had shut off the heating.
What a start to a late summer, huh?
More to come.

We were also greeted by a huge rainbow.
Good sign, huh?

(Happy Birthday, Mum.)

Southerly accent--makes me think of Scarlet O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind". :-)

Lots of mixed memories from your trip Iris, most good, some bad and hopefully lots of laughs :)
