How Much Is The Wee One?

Sunday in Die Maus they showed how you make Berliner.

And when yesterday I went to our bakery to get our usual bread there were - as it is still carnival - Berliner and I was thinking, hmmm, try one?.

But then again... it sure is very sweet.

And then I saw the small ones and thought, yep, that´s a compromise.
And ordered one.
The new lady didn´t know the price and simply asked her colleague with the words, how much is the Wee One? (with Wee One usually refering to a child, too and with that I had my games once, too).
The colleague´d seen me, said, what Wee One?! Mrs K get´s half a Glattes!.
She never thought I´d ask for something sweet!

Wee One was €0,60 and my sweet tooth will sleep for another while :-)

Funny, btw, Wiki explains it well:
"The terminology used to refer to this delicacy differs greatly in various areas of Germany. While called Berliner Ballen or simply Berliner in Northern and Western Germany as well as in Switzerland, the Berliners themselves and residents of Brandenburg, Western Pomerania, Saxony-Anhalt and Saxony know them as Pfannkuchen, which in the rest of Germany generally means pancakes; pancakes are known there as Eierkuchen ("egg cakes")."
