I never learn, can you believe this?
The other day I took off in time to get some stuff from staples, they open at 09:00.
Next I took off to the city and... certainly.
Most places still closed.
Being the early bird sometimes truly sucks!
But hence Kohlmarkt was empty and I took some time to take pics of the fountain.
The first fountain was built in 1391 and was torn down in 1544, it was a drinking water well.
From 1865 on drinking water wasn´t needed in that place anymore so they built one just for the ornaments.

When I got my new ID I had to give my fingerprint.
I am German.
Now I really wonder how this "refugee/asylum seeker" from Sudan could have 11 identities and hence make €70 000 in one year.
The woman who reported that man - against her employee´s will - lost her job for doing so.
She was nominated "Braunschweigerin des Jahres 2017" as she uncovered hundreds (plural!) of such cases.

Do news like this make it into the world, I wonder? Why don´t they take fingerprints??
Note: I feel for people who had to endure war. They usually try to learn German and integrate themselves as far as they can.
But there are (too) many who did not, but came for the money, financial refugees, young men, many of them in their (late) twenties saying they´re 17, having no documents/IDs. They wear NIKE & Co, refuse to learn German etc.
There are no fines for stealing, usually. They´re taken to the police and out the next minute, kinda. It is frustrating.
They can take public transport for free anytime whilst retirees collect returnable bottles to add to their small pension. If you´re really unlucky you get a fine for doing so like this 76 year old woman - do news like this make it to your country?
Sorry, rant over. But, really. 11 identities! and then this weather!

That should be enough to make a lot of people angry. How come there's no control over their identities? I agree refugees need to be helped, but give them a start-up and then they should work and integrate, and same rights and obligations!
I agree with Sami .. there are always those who wrought the system.. hopefully not as many who do the right thing. Hope you're getting a wee bit of sunshine this weekend Iris, guess what's on in Perth.. yup Fringe, good fun 😀
Sami, I have no idea why the system keeps failing.
Asylum seekers are not allowed to work and they can choose to learn German, but they don´t have to (yes, there are interpreters, payed from taxes).
Our politicians, Merkel have all failed, keep failing and we have to live with it. No consequences for them.
Most who come are men. You hardly see women or children, they stay in the places where war or poverty is going on.
The women and children have to live there, imagine that.
They who made it here have rights, there are no obligations whatsoever that I know of.
Let me really be unemployed and I have to report regularly, have to.. well, I´ll find out eventually.
Grace, you can assume 80-90% are financial refugees/asylum seekers.
Sudan - there is a war in the south, so why come to Germany. For the money they get for free. It is very frustrating and I´d so love to go to Fringe World instead and have the sun :-)

And yes. I kinda am no better wanting to come to Perth. Just... I speak the language, I want to work.
I am sick of politics, the garbage in the streets, the dog poo and how unfair the system is (I know, again, government pays me 80% for a year (I have obligations) but... the system in itself is unfair).
Men (I have seen no women) 50+ who don´t find a job anymore wear orange waistcoats and pick up garbage in winter, whereas the "refugees" ... oh, it´s not fair.
End of rant.
Oh, and, certainly all year round you find the garbage pickers. Just right now it´s really tough.
Next time when we arrive in Perth we´ll tell the authorities that we have “lost” our passports. I believe they say that doesn't matter, we give you accommodation, 3 meals a day and 600$ pocketmoney per month (Room cleaning service twice a week included). If we finally learned your language the government will offer us good jobs and we can buy a house and a car. This won´t work in Australia? So we try it in "Germoney".
Sad, but true. Apart from the good jobs. As most didn´t go to school long enough. Working morale differs.
We´ve been through this when East Germans (back then!!!) came over. They left to get a hair cut and such, that was normal in GDR. 3 guys doing the job of 1 and suddenly 1 guy doing the job of 1.
Oh. And Ingo said, as I´m not 50 yet it will be 60-70%, not 80% I get from government. Still enough, I hope.

That's not good at all. If you are in another country for any lengthy period of time and making it your home (i.e. not just a holiday), you should learn the language. There are plenty of places to teach them (there are here anyway).
Unfortunately it's the dodgy refugees that paint the genuine ones with the same brush.
That is (sadly) a good saying with the brush.
