This fountain is called "Befreiung des Menschen aus starren Bindungen und Normen", "Rescue of mankind from rigid bonds and norms".
It was erected in October 1981, actually at Friedrich-Wilhelm-Platz, later moved to the old post office.
The artist was Bernd Altenstein (* 1943 in Schlossberg/Ostpreußen), material is bronze.

Angie B. from Hanover visited Braunschweig and found this fountain.
She asked people about it but in the end all she found out was the name, also online she found nothing. And that I found on page 21 in google.
By golly, be it murals or else... you can look but not know what it´s about, how sad is that?

It's a lovely sculpture. I also find it can be difficult to find information on certain things and can be frustrating.
