Cheers! Or... Prost!

Likely you know Jägermeister.
It´s produced some 15 km from our doorstep, in Wolfenbüttel.

It´s a digestif that´s made with 56 herbs and spices. It was founded in 1934 and now sold worldwide.
Pic above? Our Italian Pizzeria, Guido´s! Even they sell this.
"...muss was dran sein" > "must be something about it".

Or go to Magnifest (well, that will be September), you find this:

Funny. So many say the German language is so full of loooong words, so complicated.
"EISBEGEHRT" is no German word, but "heißbegehrt" is and that´s what it is referring to - you say "much sought-after" for "heißbegehrt", HA, German: shorter!

Much sought after. Germans are longing. They are "heiß" > "hot"! They "desire" > "begehren".
But Jägermeister is best cold.

So they left out the "H" > "eisbegehrt", "Eis" > "ice". Ice-cold! (Taste is gone then, I recommend: cool, like from the fridge only).

It´s OK, I wouldn´t run for it. Always nice as a pressie, though!

You can also have HEIMBS-coffee, now, that is a Braunschweig brand, not even 2 km from our doorstep.

This is our tourist-info, though, in the heart of the city. Sit down, enjoy!
Doggies get water (reckon if you bring your cat, he/she, too).

This is for "Tom´s "Signs 2".

Lion of the day, certainly:

Henry looking on the river!
Hence, must be New Year´s "night". That´s when he steps off his usual place and walks around to see if everybody is OK.
By dawn he is back and no one saw him (they say and yes, that must be a shiney moon!).

I think we do have the brand at home, even (but somehow I don´t like coffee anymore!).

MB, take the coffee, then, HEIMBS is yummy! (Well, was when I still liked coffee).

Valerie, gutem frostigen Morgen, brrrr, kalt hier!
GlG, Iris

Jägermeister ... I know this drink ... you can buy it in the liquor store, but I never drink it ... seems to me like a strong drink!
How are you doing today?
I looked at the statistics of the blog and I was shocked ... Someone from Turkmenistan had been on my blog 293 times last night ... he certainly steals photos! And I don't like that!
And something else ... have snowed! Not too much but the roof of the house was white this morning!
Enjoy your day, baby!
Hugs! 🤗

I've heard the word Jägermeister, but never saw what it represented. I DO like the sign at the coffee house, though. After all, coffee is MY thing. Lovely lion, too. He looks like he's standing guard.

Iris Flavia said...

No, Ella, it´s not strong, it´s but a digestif :-)
Well. I´m still waiting for professional help, job-wise, and am about to give up...
WHAT? 293 times? What drives people to do that, thank you for the warning!!!
White roofs here, too, "just" ice, though.
Hope you are doing well, dear, hugs (and slap that darn guy ;-)...)

Elizabeth, HEIMBS sure was yummy (when I liked coffee!)

... and with a "digestif" you can't get drunk?
Sorry guys, the party doesn't go on! LOL
Why don't you have a "followers list"?

Nice German lesson! Different languages do things in different ways, which all seem odd when you call attention to them. That's always fun. Though normally we just keep talking our native language without tripping over the words. In English if something is much-sought-after you could just say it's "hot."

best... mae at maefood.blogspot.com

Ella, I suppose if your sweet tooth is big enough, you can get drunk on Jägermeister - I could not, brrr... LOL!
What is the list good for? (Please, really, let me know, I feel so... old!!!)

___

Kathy!!! LOL!!! Now, this is a good one! I think they say (or yell) Halali! before hunting!

____

Mae - thank you for the lesson, too!
Funny, and interesting, isn´t it!

Grace, yes, I was "thinking"... "where was that again?"
Cheers! I say :-)
Our Henry, huh. He says "Hi" xx

I have no idea, Iris!
Maybe to see who your fan is! LOL
You should not feel "old" ... I am old enough, even for you! 🤗

... Guido´s is a GREAT name for a pizza joint, we have one back home. Thanks Iris.

I suppose it's available here, but I don't drink.

Iris Flavia said...

Ella, hmmm. No. I like if you say "hello" here, that´ll do. And yes. Times are fast these days. I am old, too!

____

Tom, they´re Italians, they speak the language and you feel like... on a mini-holiday there!

____

William! ;-) You don´t "drink" that. You take a sip!

Nice signs. And I always enjoy seeing a lion. I only know a little German: I know how to say good morning, good day, and I'll see you later. I only know the pronunciation of those phrases, but not how to spell them in German. :-)

Iris Flavia said...

Anne (your mail has arrived, btw, THANK YOU! - just look for the right place in the kitchen now!) - spelling is not important. My English teacher was from Great Britain. He said (in German): "Last words to you in German: Speak English! Don´t know a word? Describe!" - and he was right, it is supposed to be FUN to be able to talk to each other, that´s all!

Kathy, :-)
