We need to deliver till end of February for our project and panic sets in (always difficult when different nations who live different values work together).
It´s stressful, but we also laugh and smile and since this is a face it goes with Nicole´s FFO, as it has red it goes with Erika´s Red and since we still smile this is also for Annie´s Smiles.

The lille Worry-Eater still sits in the corner here, I don´t have to bother him (yet).
Some internet-funnies:
Especially in the German language (I think, or do you have the same misery, too?) many insist on using female and male forms when addressing people, female always first.
Example: Kolleginnen und Kollegen blablabla.
Even worse: Kolleg*/*innen - hurts reading!!!
Third sentence latest they only write Kollegen and two things:
- what more info gives you this addressing both, we are PEOPLE, it´s just more to write/read
- why female first when women want equal rights?
Sometimes, though, Ingo goes first and opens the door for me, LOL, old school!
But not always, because we are equal and so far I managed to get into cars by myself!
My teamleader is a bit with the female/male-stuff but knows my opinion.
So to fop me the other day he said "you are the 'Gästin' then".
This word astonishingly does not exist, a guest is a "Gast".
So happy we both can have our opinion, respect each other still and make jokes!
I am so lucky, right!!!

Well, that is OK, but women now want to be equal and especially those woman want to be treated old school!
They should make up their mind!
Certainly I prefer Ingo going in first in restaurants and picking the table cause my orientation is not good, but if it happens I am first I am first and do the best I can (not ending up right next to the table with screaming toddlers etc. Old school: I had to be quiet on such occasions!

When I was going to college back in the late 1960's-women's lib came on the scene-I got invited to an event I went just to see what this was--they preached -open your own doors, pay your own restaurant tabs-and on it went-I walked out-what's wrong with being treated kindly--ok that's my take haha hugs from the lake

Mr. M. still opens the door for me for the car and places we enter. He also holds the door for other. However, if I am alone in town men do not hold the door or if it is an automatic door they rush in first and not wait for women to go first. It is lost on them. Anyway, thank you for joining FFO. I laughed at that "joke" about how do men get into cars. I think that men don't help women open car doors anymore unless the women are physically handicapped.

I could say my husband has always believed in equal rights because he has NEVER opened any door for me, ever. I've never minded because I've always felt that opening a door for a woman just because she is a woman is rather sexist. But let me also say, if someone holds the door for me instead of slamming it in my face, like when you get to a store and they are coming out and hold the door for you to go in, that is just plain kindness. Your worry doll is cute. I'm so glad the English language doesn't have gender forms. It's a hard enough language to learn without trying to figure out if something is masculine/feminine/neutral. Maybe the German language will evolve to dump the gender rules. But then which do you pick as "the" going forward? Der? Die? Das? 😺Have great day!

Loving your worry doll, it's rather Prim in style. I just think everyone should be polite to each other and when appropriate open the door for others no matter what sex they are. I am very short about 5ft (1.52 meteres) and if a man offers to get something for me off a shelf in the supermarket I let them but I have been known to find things under shelves for others as I'm closer to the ground. The only time my hubby opens the car door for me is usually because my arms are full of stuff! Have a very happy weekend. Angela xXx

Yes, here people mostly do that, too. When they - man or woman (mostly men, though) see someone is following they give the door a good push to let you in, too.
Or hold it open when you have a baby or are in a wheelchair.

I worry about too much... I am worried women's rights are being threatened here in my country... ridiculous to judge humans based on gender color religion. I also think kindness, door opening for example can be done by anyone, and when my husband opens a door for me, or lifts something, it's a kindness. I hold doors open for people just because. Right?

I didn´t expect such a strong response on that even!
I could use a worry eater here. I never think about the gender of someone when opening a door. If I get to the door first I open it. And if someone is getting in my car I open the door for them whether male or female.
Those issues don't even register in my head. Just be polite is my motto.
Years ago I attended a seminar with another woman colleague and she complained that the men would let me walk into the room first and ignore her. She was the one who always proclaimed her equality with men, whereas I enjoy being treated like a lady. I wonder if the men subconsciously picked up on our ideas?

There's this woman on YouTube, something like safari sami. She has a number of big cats as rescues, lions, panthers, etc. Her videos consist of her giving them chin scratches, nose boops, and belly rubs.
It's cute and all, but I still wonder if one of them could turn on her.
I've gone for equality all my life. It's how I was raised. Regardless of race, color, creed, religion, gender identification, or human rights, each person should treat others as they would like to be treated.
I agree with CJ on the gender identification of your language. That was definitely something we thankfully do not have here. AND the difference between low and high German is so different, too.

I never understood this "equality" thing, men and women are not equal and never will be, but I do believe in equal opportunity and if women want to open their own doors, then let them and so on, if they want to do traditionally male jobs they should be allowed to and it goes the other way too, men can do traditionally female jobs, if the women don't like it, they are not fully embracing the 'equality' are they?

River, I agree with you on the job-thing.
Put me on a construction site carrying the heavy stuff... makes no sense, I am too small.
But, for example I think rubbish bins can get very heavy, too, yet I saw a beautiful blonde woman - OK, she was tall - doing the job just as her male colleague!
She gave me a beautiful smile on the way :-)

Equality... a dream maybe never to come true...
I guess I am of the generation that was brought up to expect men to open doors, etc, and I still appreciate when it happens, but not upset when it doesn't.
As for the male and female pronouns, out here in Spain when mixed company is being referrred to, only the male pronoun is used to cover everyone. i.e. Parents are Padres which means fathers. Mothers are madres. On the other had every item has a gender e.g.mesa for table is feminine, and you get odd looks from the locals if you use the wrong pronoun. It is all so confusing, but underneath it all, Yes, we are all humans and therefore all equal. Have a nice week. Kate x
I am lucky as I was raised by parents who were way before their time when it came to women being equal. I have always pursued life as though it was my right to be equal and it has always worked for me. If someone holds a door open for me, I appreciate the kindness and don't interpret it based on male or female. We make things harder if we are always trying to interpret what others do and why. I say, just move on, but don't allow someone to take advantage or be rude. As for the worry doll ... I love it. As a parent and a grandparent, I have many worries, especially in the times that we live in. My greatest worry is what kind of world my children will live in when I am gone. So yes, make the worry dolls and sell them, I will be the first to buy one :)
