To Do This Week

After the TOTAL stress seems to be gone I can for once take care of Christmas cards.
Means a trip to the city. Or... DIY?  Either way I´ll then see our lille post office in Braunschweig Ringgebiet - this mural again is from Bayswater.

 And... well, where to go?

"Our everyday objects and their unusual origin stories

 Chewing Gum

In the 19th century, Mexican President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna asked the inventor Thomas Adam to produce rubber from a milky latex material from the Central American sapodilla tree, called chicle. The rubber did not prove successful, but Adam found another use for it."

Chewing gum?

And, of course.... Bruno has arrived, see here, if you like!

Thanks to our host, the murals :-)

Interesting info about the chewing gum. When I was young we had a brand of chewing gum called "chiclet", which now I know comes from the name of that latex material. Fun fact :) I love that mural, it's so cute. Thanks for participating in Monday Murals Iris.

Nice mural, Iris. I saw those trees when I was in Mexico last winter.

I'm liking the mural especially the purple flowers, are they Jacaranda trees? there are a ton of them in the far north of NZ.

Hope he gets what he wants!

The murals are fabulous, Iris. That story of gum. I hadn't even thought of how it came to be. Very interesting. Have a great day.

That is actually "Bubble Gum" for blowing bubbles, regular chewing gum is different and doesn't blow bubbles.
I love the mural with all the butterflies following the lady's basket and those "street signs"

Thank you, well, and Sami - and yes, interesting about the everyday-gum, huh!

Iris Flavia said...

Yes, sweet!

Iris Flavia said...

There are different kinds of chewing gum? I think here we have but one...? Not that I blow bubbles anymore... hm, old... I am old.
Yes, a great mural Sami showed me!

Iris Flavia said...

Ohje, was?!
Also dito; ruhige, adventliche Grüße zurück 🤶
