The weather is up and down here.
Guess it´s normal, otherwise we would not have these "old" instruments to show us, right.
When I was a kid we had "white Christmas", now snow comes in February, mostly.
Since... over 30 years? It´s ice often, too.
Yes, I know. Heavy fires in NSW, it is horrible, heavy rains in Indonesia.
It is just crazy!
Is it man-made (as in humans, no offense to men per se!) or just life? Who really knows? What is true, who wants to make but money?
Who knows for sure? I am not sure.
Some countries blow everything in the air, others recycle till they go nuts. We are not "one world" and I doubt we will ever be. (We have paper in here, LOADS, cause families had pressies from Santa, parcels, wrapped up, too, containers again full to the brim!).
At least (?) China refuses to get our rubbish to burn it, baby-steps...

Because "girls" liked them, parents/Uncles/Aunts thought I do, too.
No. What do you do with these, put their thumbs in their mouths, huuuhhh, such a challenge - give me a good book and I´m happy! I can learn, or... have fun in my mind. Why do people assume...
"Boys will be boys", huh, and girls...
Did you have such toys, too, did you like them there is nothing bad about it, do not get me wrong, please!!!
It´s... when people do not ask, they can not listen right?
And even that is not fool-proofed!!!
I asked my big Niece when she was little what she wants for her 3rd Birthday.
"Sun. An ant." I asked back three times at least, it was an ant.
Dumb Auntie-me roamed the shops. I found a magnifier with a tin. HAPPY! YAY.
Told her she can put the ant in there and see all the tiny parts real close.
Little did I know you call big machines for road work "ants", also.
The look she gave me. Oh, help. I tried, though?
No Lion, this was Bornhausen, they do not have Lions there...
But reckon they still laugh about me with that one ;-)

But I bought another pressie I think it´s just wrong... in the aftermath.
I'm chuckling at this. They always say ït's the thought that counts" but sometimes it's "What were they thinking?!!! You're right -- if only people listened!
I had a good laugh at the Ant present your niece wanted.
I would have not know either what it was.
Just recently a friend invited us to her son's 4th birthday and I asked what I should buy him and she said "Paw Patrol stuff". I had to ask what is was and where I could buy it, as I don't watch kids tv, lol.

Sami, OH, MY! Wee One told me on the phone she got "Paw Patrol". Me: "what?" Repeat till she got her Daddy cause she was fed up with me! Oh, help I needed, lol!
Ah, the gifts with the littles can sometimes go awry as the littles have their own language. But we do try. I was the only girl in the family for 10 years or so. All the aunties had boys so Mama and the aunties wanted to lavish me in pink frills. My favorite color is not pink, but back then that's what color girls were supposed to like. I didn't play with dolls, but I got lots of them. I was a tomboy. I liked to play the games boys played. Baseball, football, climbing trees. And I adored the color blue.
From tomboy to tomboy, then. Though I am an introvert, but men keep telling me "I´m no woman" and they mean it as a compliment.
I had a pink phase once, brrr ;-)
I was the ball at school recess, cause I was the smallest - teachers thought I had fun...
As a child, I got a doll or two, but my grandparents (who raised me) knew I preferred books. Even before I could read, I preferred books. I gave all my dolls away, except one. Like you, I'm not a doll person. Had a good laugh at the ants. Never heard that term for a road repair machine, but I don't watch kid tv, I guess. At least you tried.

Glad your Grandparents at least knew you loved books! I never got the doll-concept.
And I think even adults here call those machines "ants", just I had no idea!!!
Oh weh, diese Geschenke habe ich zum Glück nie bekommen. Jede/r wußte, ich war kein girly girl, aber eine echte Leseratte, also bekam ich Bücher. War zwar manchmal auch ein Griff ins Klo, aber meistens war ich happy. Uebesetzt sich "ant" wirklich mit Ameise hier? Ich hätte keinen blassen Schimmer gehabt...
When I was young we had a white Christmas 90% of time and now it seem maybe 10% of time we have white christmas.
Last year we got hit during Imbolc.
Our weather is crazy too, though I must say we seem to have gotten much snowier winters. Like I remember as a kid. But more water in the air, more snow when it is cold. Warmer temperatures, more water in the air. Crazy. Hope you have a great new week Iris. Hugs-Erika
I did not know roadworks machines were called ants. I don't think they are, here. I've never seen toys like those with the thumbs in the mouth. when I was six or seven I was given a doll and a pram for Christmas, which didn't make sense to me because I never played with dolls also the doll was not a baby doll so shouldn't go in the pram. But I did what I was told and wheeled her around the block while my luckier sister got to ride her chain-driven three-wheeled bike and my brother drove his small motor powered go-kart which he really didn't want and made such a fuss it was returned the day after and he also got a chain-driven three wheeled bike. I had to stick with the doll and pram :(
Carola, ja, Ameise, darum hab ich ja so oft nachgefragt, wer denkt auf dem Dorf, wo sie leben, denn an sowas? Aber ein paar Strassen weiter wurde gebaut (was ich nicht wusste, ich war ja nur zu Besuch).

River, awful and unfair!
So, not all boys are typical boys, either. I once even got a dollhouse. I didn´t know what to do with it. After all there were real kids in the neighbourhood to play with outside, drive a bicycle etc!
Here there's snow.
Here in my part of the UK we've had so much rain … I'm really hoping for dry, sunny days soon and I wouldn't mind a little frost but no snow!!!
