They didn´t have it and they couldn´t order online because they have a discount campaign (makes no sense to me).
Went to the next. They didn´t even have it on offer.
Why I wanna buy especially these things local?
If something breaks (like last time the wristband) I can simply walk into the store and get a replacement.
But also because I want to help local stores to survive.
Online I saw a device for the sewing machine.
Shop one has never heard of it, and in shop two... One staff was explaining a machine to a customer.
One staff just stood bored, saw I´m looking for something and just couldn´t care less.
As it was a small store and not very modern so I assumed they don´t have it anyways and left.
It´s not only the mask thing, which gets worse in the cold temps outside and way too warm stores, it´s staff that does not care.

pre-"Corinna" our stupid REWE for weeks ran out of articles again and
again, simply saying on me asking, "they unpack it right now.".
I have
no idea how it can take two weeks (or more) to unpack the water-brand
Ingo prefers. Or the coconut milk or the cheese brand...
You
would guess an article gets sold, it is registered and if the article is
on a certain amount you get a warning: "order this". But, nada, no one
cares.
You look for clothes, or whatever... no.staff. I don´t know where they hide, you gotta run and try to find someone.
Or order online.

Well even online a lot of local stores are there so better online.
I am trying to buy local.But you are right, half the time the staff hide from you.
I am buying more online for the convenience. I often go to the stores and figure out what I want and then go home and order.

It's good if you can buy local, but if you live in a rural area like I do, sometimes that's not always an option. And the problem with stores running of of things has more to do with the supply chains breaking down. For example, Truck drivers get sick can't drive goods to shops. Trucking companies can't hire extra drivers because drivers need a special license to operate a commercial truck. Not everyone has this kind of license, etc. And I love your ticker! And Henry! I hardly ever buy online, I just prefer to support small businesses. Thankfully retail staff seem to be friendlier here and you can usually find someone to help you out.
I dislike ordering on line especially clothes, but in my small town it is difficult to buy local. Mostly tourists stores that I don't need. So into the big city where they either don't have, can order it for you and then you have to drive back to the big city to pick it up, or here in the US sooooo many store have closed. So it is all about ordering on line.
I definitely prefer local Iris, at least you know exactly what you are getting, or not getting in some instances 😉
Always good to buy local if possible. Sometimes that just isn't possible.
CJ, here it is just that one store, I´ve never seen that in others here. It´s a chain and only this one has these issues.

With shops like that, you can see why more and more people are turning to online shopping. I like the personal interaction in a store, but even I am slowly turning to online more and more (son swears by it, he seldom goes to a shop).
It been ages since I used my tracker. I also try to keep my money in small business.

I've always been a big advocate of buying local but since lockdown and Covid, I find myself ordering online a lot more. I'm going to try to arrange to shop at odd hours for Christmas soon.

Lucky me does not need to buy anything for Christmas, my Brother says the Nieces have more than plenty and Ingo and I give pressies when we see something nice.

We used to have a lot of small shops like that -- high prices, unhelpful, feeling that the customers owed them a living, closed at 5 PM. Most of them went out of business a long time ago when bigger malls with better attitudes and longer hours took over. Then came little shops with special merchandise to appeal to people who liked to shop for unusual things. Now they are in trouble too.
I was already doing a lot of online shopping when the great shutdown made it my only option. It's too dangerous to be there in person!
