Ingo bought me a sewing machine. In turquoise. Boooy is that thing complicated!!!

Code is row by row - YES, blogger, THAT´S how you do it, not one bunch of ... whatever!
But that machine?! Drives me nuts. Do things here, remember to turn the handle to the right, check to the left if that "thingy" came up etc etc!!! Pull this to the right, the other to the left, WHAT?!!!!
And it´s one for kids, too!!! But I gave it a go from scratch (several, to be honest, supervised by Ingo).

Buuuut ... here we go!
I have to learn a lot, huh - but it is a start!
A start with a tea-towel. And the song "I´d like to be..." came to my mind.
An Aborigine-family sat beside us, that song was playing from their little boom-blaster.
They had softdrinks. They were happy, they had two kids and a brand new car.
In the park behind them... scenes you might know (they cannot process alcohol, yet do).
How this family could stand this is a miracle to me.
I wanted to be under the sea at that moment... In all these years we "met" but three happy families like that. I do think and hope the number has increased a LOT!
In Kununurra a little Aborigine-boy, he could barely walk, came over to us in a diner. He pointed at me: "You girl!!!", then at Ingo, "you boy!!!", smiling so proud on us grinning and saying "yes, sweetie".
And his parents grinned over proudly, also.
See what a sewing machine can do? Bring back sweet memories.
Now I have seashells from both Nieces on the wall 😍
To Ingo it does not count as art as also this background was a finished paper and stamps... every kid 3+ can use that. But it was fun to make!

Ice cream is definitely a food, but one I can no longer eat, at least not the amounts I used to. I like licorice tea, but not with any other flavour, just licorice.
Learning a new sewing machine does sound like a challenge. I've had the same one since I was 14 years old. Needless to say, it has no electronics. It also has no plastic parts -- all steel, which is why it has lasted a lifetime. Good luck with mastering whatever sewing art or craft you have chosen!

Mae, that´s the first machine for me. In 7th grade I had to go to a sewing class, but the machines were already always ready to go. After one session I went to the boys and worked with wood instead...
I've read those machines for kids don't last any time at all. I was in the sewing center one day when a woman brought one in she bought for her daughter. The owner told her they were not designed to be repaired, that's why they were so cheap. I'm not sure that is what Ingo got you, but it looks hard to manipulate. It IS a pretty color at least.
I love ice cream, Iris. It is always good. I'm out right now and with the hot weather returning this week, I could use some. I wish I had your weather. It's too hot for even tees. Sleeveless is the way to go this next week, where the temps will be in the high 30s C.
Your licorice/spearmint tea sound lovely and refreshing. That's a beautiful box it comes in, too.

Now staying at home most of the time. I wanted to use my sewing machine. But I needed my husbands help to get it ready to sew.
...after my wife and I were married 52 years ago we bought a Singer, we just found the bill of sale. It was $200, that was a lot of money back then!
Elizabeth, 130€ does not sound like a cheapy to me and the machine is also declared as "beginner", so maybe kids was the wrong word. We´ll see...

Anne, maybe I´m just dumb with that machine? A neighbour has a sewing machine that cost € 2000, it does everything automatically. He sewed a bit and now lost interest - expensive fun!
Since I don´t know if´ll stick to it Ingo took this for € 130.

Oh I know what you mean Iris, I don't find using the sewing machine easy either, which is surprising because my mum was an amazing seamstress, she made most of my clothes when we lived in the middle of Africa, copying the latest fashions from English magazines. I never really took to it much to her frustration 😁 Ingo is looking looking good, healthy!
Oh, Grace English fashion, I´d like to see that! Ingo had to repair his clothes and hence can sew on a machine. I knock on wood, let´s not jinx it with health!
Shari finds sewing machines very frustrating so she sews by hand. No big jobs just creative ones. I like the piece you did, it's nice. I like licorice and spearmint but I dont think it would be tasty as a tea. Have a nice visit to the Octopus's Garden. :) 11C and raining.
I would say you're off to a good start with your sewing machine. I can relate. I don't enjoy learning new technology. My stomach goes into knots.

Love your sea art of course! Your new machine is such a cheerful color. Sorry it's not so easy to use. I have a very old Sears Kenmore and not every stich works on it but I only use it for quick repair or for my mixed media art anymore. It'll be intimidating for sure when i will need to get a new one. Sewing oh my gosh---don't get me started. My Mother was a seamstress and she tried to teach me but I didn't want to learn. Well I did anyway and made my girls lots of dresses and cowboy shirts but I never really liked it. but soon all those little instructions become almost second nature. So stick with it.

Your sewing machine is a lovely color! I love my machine and it makes things so much easier. Although, when it doesn't work it can be SO frustrating. Your art project looks great as well as the stitching. I love the under the sea theme.

I had some ice cream tonight! :) I am now singing Help Me Rhonda, thank you. Your easy sewing machine reminds me of a printer I just bought that said on the box easy hook up! Ha! Don't believe it. It took 4 hours on the phone one day to get it hooked onto our wireless, and two hours the next day to get hooked up to their ink plan. I was exhausted!

Oh, Erika. We had four remote controls, one for the monitor, one for TV, one for DVD and another for the sound system. Drove.me.nuts! Now it´s only three, no TV no more. Still a bit tricky. We still run on satellite as netflix would be German here, then I can also watch TV... I´m wishing you a great day, hugs from here, I had bad food yesterday, not so nice!

Ohhh learning a new sewing machine is like going to a country that you don't speak the language. I don't know why it has to be so difficult. I have 2 sewing machines. One is a Phaff and I can not figure that one out to save my life. However, I do like the color and your art is excellent. Beer any day any time of the year. Enjoy your day.
