We saw a short docu on what would not have happened, if certain Germans didn´t exist - well, I´m pretty sure someone else would´ve come up with it, too, but imagine if not.
Let´s start right away with this here. I would not be able to blog, nor would you, if Konrad Zuse didn´t come up with the S2 computing machine. We simply would not have computers.
And without Martin Luther there wouldn´t have been the Reformation nor Brothers Grimm´s Fairy tales (I just made notes whilst watching, but there was a connection).
Without Robert Koch no modern bacteriology, no cure for tuberculosis, cholera, and anthrax, no hygiene...

Bertiebo, yes, Gutenberg they mentioned also, and Bach and others which led to vinyl etc. But my notes were already a week old and some I could hardly read ;-)

Terrific and fascinating. I knew many of those names but others, new to me. Their achievements shouldn't be forgotten.
One bad apple doesn't ruin a whole basket, or in this case country. Now if only the president of the us would know something about Robert Koch. By the way how do you pronounce that name? I always called it COKE, but maybe that's not authentic. And I was brought up Lutheran so I know too much about Martin Luther for my taste. Fun post today Iris. I am not German but my cousin was married to a wonderful German lady and lives with along with his 2 children. I was looking for a coloring book of grimm's fairy tales, couldn't find the one that would work for embroidery project.
Interesting facts. Himself and I used to watch a program in the 1980s called Connections. They would show how cotton textiles in Holland in the 1600s lead to launching rockets in space. It was fun to learn all the things and people that were connected because of their innovations. Henry looks very happy. I hope you have a happy weekend, too.
I was blown away by this post. I love how so many things that have been invented or discovered can be traced to a German. That was most interesting. I especially liked the "farmer!"
