He came in after work with a postcard from Island Fehmarn! 💙
Written by... my Big Niece!!! Astonishingly not in cursive handwriting - she turns 11 soon - I back then had to write cursive - kinda sad they seem to not teach this anymore? I´ll have to ask!
How´s it like in your place?
Anyhows... I had to grin. Obviously she´d never seen my name in letters, it starts with:
"Dear Ires, dear Ingo".
She wrote my name as it´s pronounced in German, was corrected and made a fat "i" of the "e".
And my dear lille Bro wrote as address Iris + Ingo Kaiser, despite Ingo has another surname.
And, as "Kaiser" translated is "Emperor" he added a little crown 🥰
Lille Niece, who´s not in school yet, gave me a little puzzle.
She wrote her name from right to left. Huh?

Lille Niece went to swimming school so she can go into the ocean.
Too cold 🥶 - poor kiddo.
Yesterday it was warm enough to sit outside, but the ocean sure is freezing...
Today we again expect 28C / 82F, yipeeeeeeeeeeeeee.... books, let´s go outside!

LOL. Phone rang, 07-ten-ish, Ingo: "W is parking in no parking zone!" - morning sport on my side, 4th floor. A sleepy head, "huh??? Oh. OK, thank you." Hope he is quick enough!
Oh, darn it. Either someone moves or there is construction works again.
We really are tight with parking space here! Glad I have no car no more!

Addendum #2, W just knocked. Date was 12th, he was lucky he wasn´t towed away, but did find another parking space just to make sure. "It´s good to get up 'early' once in a while ;-)".....

So sweet your niece sent you a postcard. Loved how she signed her name with a little heart. Sadly, cursive writing isn't really taught here beyond 3rd/4th grade when it is first taught. Most schools don't care whether the children print or use cursive on their papers. Fun that your brother added a crown to the postcard. I thought the name was Gayye, too. No points. ...fewer and fewer people write in cursive. I don't, but when I need to sign my name, I scribble. Hi to you, Ingo and Henry.
They don't teach cursive here anymore either. I guess they expect hand writing to become obsolete. It's sad. But nice postcard. Fun that she thought of you and sent you some snail mail. Have a great start to your weekend.
Not having kids, I have no idea if they teach cursive in school.
i remember when I was a child, we spent weeks learning how to properly write each letter in cursive. Now I think they teach children how to build up their finger muscles so they can use them for texting! So sweet of your niece to think of you, though. It was sweet and a nice postcard.
To let you know, "Jesus" is a VERY popular name in the Hispanic community. The word is pronounced HEY-sue-sh. My neighbor to the north with the fence is also named Jesus. Since Hispanics are famous for having large families, I suspect every family has at least one male they named Jesus! Thanks for the shout out today, too.

In some towns here parking is much sought after, luckily we have a very wide driveway and garage to put our cars in.

River, Freddie was born in Zanzibar, he was Parsi. At the age of only 8 he went all by himself to Mumbai/India to a boarding school and after that to London.
Often he spoke rather US-English, at least to my ears, somehow this sounded very British.
I think it's lovely that your niece sent you a postcard.
