T STands For Tasting

Ingo invited W for 04:45 pm last Thursday.
Certainly 04:30 he knocked at the door.
We asked him inside, the brewery does not open before 05:00 pm and we don´t need 30 minutes to walk there.
It looks a bit chaotic as Ingo throws out stuff, among other he found a bottle of Cuban Rum. Now not only 7, but 28 years old! It´s from our last visit 2010.
W got a taste, also of some other rum Ingo had "found" - obviously we are not so much into this stuff.

(Pics from their FB-site)
We then walked to the Jürgens Brewery and had some beer. W at least forgot for a short time the sadness about having lost his wife and we all marveled about all the holidays we ventured out to over the years.

Food-wise... we had two mini-corns. As in shared. I woke up hungry the next morno ;-)
Last time they had such a wonderful potato-salad, not this time. W munched down a whole Bratwurst, very good, he´s way too thin. I didn´t want to destroy the vibe, so no pic.

Since it was only W who did the rum-tasting I join Elizabeth´s "T Stands For Tuesday" with part #1 of Ingo´s pressies:

And art-wise... holiday-time, just this again.

 Well, and this:

Monday we had to find out the Botanical Garden is closed on Mondays!
Back when we were in a weekend-relationship I used to go there often after coming back to Braunschweig after work on Mondays.
So instead we had a BBQ.

Tuesday Ingo finally started to  clean out his place and W spontanously knocked at our door to let us know his wife has peacefully passed. Perfect weather for that, cloudy again 😥.

Wednesday the sun was back and on to the balcony reading I was - whilst Ingo went grocery-shopping and came home with said surprises. More cleaning out and then rain, ohhh, beautiful!

Thursday Ingo cleaned out some more, found a cigar, an "Habanos" Plus Cuban rum and some other, W had some "fun" with us, the weather was a mixed one.

My keypad - all new (well two years unused) gave up on the letters y and x - for crying out loud. I worked with copy and paste. Then picked them out and in upside down, all good again.

The weekend was uneventful.

But Ingo had the idea - since it is too cold for a BBQ (!!!), to get this out (what kind of a "summer" is this?!):

Cause I had another yum:

And certainly another peek into Freddie´s life:

 Henry 🦁

I think he´s again behind bars, as every August, or is he, Corinna?
Normally they have theater-plays around him.

I had no cloth, so my hand it had to be. I´m a lazy person ;-) First pic from their website not my art... sadly.

Condolences to your friend, how is he coping with the loss of his wife?

Iris Flavia said...

Nancy, yes, it was really yummy. Thank you and have a great day, too!

____

Amy, he has a very hard time. His kids don´t really help him.

Laurie, oh, we find so many treasures, I found 3 in the street again yesterday. Well, I hope he finds ways to cope.

Iris you are kind to take your friend out, so sad about his wife.I love your journal, great drawings about what you’ve been doing.
I always make a mess when I’m clearing out old things, I’m always loath to part with stuff too unlike my husband who isn’t sentimental about old items,
Your food looks delicious, it’s looks like a sort of sandwich maker, we bought a George Forman grill ten years ago and it’s still in the box as we realised it takes too much workspace and we don’t have lots of cupboard space either.
Happy T Day
Jan

Always a treat to read what you have been up to, Iris. So glad you are helping your friend with his loss - you are good neighbors and friends. Love how you journaled your week and your ham rollup, but my favorite picture is of your hand. Very fun!

Happy T-day! Hugz

Iris Flavia said...

Jan, that story about the grill sure made me laugh!
What are neighbors for huh - his kids don´t care that much.

____

Tom yes W couldn´t wait ;-)
Never expected the hand-shot to be so fun, LOL - that Gourmetmaxx is really practical! Henry says hi back.

____

Nancy, I hope if something bad happens everybody has someone to be there.
Funny how being too lazy to a get a cloth turned out here ;-) Hugz

Good morning Iris, very fun post today I really enjoyed it. I tried rum once (its gluten free) but I got really sick from it and I only had a little in a mixed drink. I was surprised. that is an interesting appliance for grilling-loving your journal pages too Happy tuesday and new week hugs from the lake

That bread with the crab is so pretty and the bratwurst sound delicious!
So many wonderful things to see and read about in your post today.
The picture of your hand is fabulous. Playing in paint is the best!
Happy Tea Day,
Kate

Iris Flavia said...

Kathy, thank you and yes that mini-grill is super-practical!

____

Kate, yes, if the bread was on sale I´d probably buy and have it on display, LOL.
I draw lines in the journal - one of you arty bloggers suggested this and I was too lazy to get a cloth and used my hand getting the ruler clean.
If that counts as art I might paint my face maybe next time - or just the nose ;-)

I've never heard of Sommersby apple drink, but it sounds great. Your choice to barbeque indoors looks yummy indeed.

Art wise, I love your hand, and I always enjoy reading your weekly calendar.

So sweet of you and Ingo to take W for a beer. Glad he was able to forget how sad he is for a little while. You two are good for him.

Thanks for sharing your calendar, your indoor barbeque, your cute froggy, Freddy A to Z, and your Sommersby apple drink with us for T this Tuesday, dear Iris.

That crab drink is interesting with the bread. It was really nice to be out with W to give him some company.
Ha- love how you used your hand for the color swatching- I've been known to do that on my fingers with paints:) Your Gourmetmaxx is interesting- and it looks like it makes great wraps. I'm sure we have something similar but I never really looked...
cute Froggy and fun art planner pages Iris. Happy T day!

Lovely that you could take W out and let him forget a little bit of his sadness for a short while. Bless him, he was so keen that he came early.
Your ham and feta thingy looks yum. I have a similar gadget and will give it a whirl. Thank you for the suggestion.
Love the artwork on your hand, lol!
The crab bread looks really nice. I assume it's brown bread. Oh how I miss brown bread...
Happy T-Day,
Take care,

Iris Flavia said...

William, she had Alzheimer´s, heart attacks and strokes. Maybe it was just about time. They didn´t take good care of her in the nursing home, either...

_____

Lisca, yes, I hope everyone has someone in such times.
You´re welcome with the kitchen tool :-)
I never thought anyone would say anything about my hand!
Sadly they don´t have the bread for sale, so I don´t know... but as much as I learned you can make any bread yourself ;-)
Hugs from here

The silhouette of the beer bottles and wine glass, fantastic! Cute bread and Froggy though shouldn't he be wearing a crown? You had a busy week. Some good. Some not so good. You are so kind to W. Love your hand of many colors. A real artist hand. Fabulous A to Z book. Happy T Day

RedPat said...

You are so good to W. He is lucky to have met such kind people as you two!

Iris Flavia said...

CJ, he has a crown under my hat :-)
W is a kind man, too.
A rather "lazy" hand, too lazy to get a cloth/kitchen towel, LOL
Freddie will be back with an introduction tomorrow.

____

RedPat, W is very nice himself and over the years... he called me a friend.
I´m his youngest Son´s age. And he does not care... Sad.

I love everything about this, Iris. The fun at the brewery, the wonderful looking ham/feta dish, your journal. And I esecially love that you and Ingo are taking care of W -- it sounds like he really needs the love and companionship. That first photo in silhouette is fabulous.

Sounds like you had a good week Iris. I think that crab bread and beer looks good, and I am hungry right now, so it especially looks good. I think the crab on top is lots of fun. And you hands are a work of art after working on your journal also. I think you need to draw that in your journal-smile. Glad you finally had some outside weather. It has been crazy weather everywhere this summer it seems. Hope you had a wonderful T day my friend. hugs-Erika

River said...

Your journal is the best I have ever seen, pretty and colourful.

Iris Flavia said...

Jeanie, thank you - we all need someone who cares, right.

Erika, well, yes. Ingo was on "holiday" :-) I can just laugh about how so many like the pic of my hand, LOL.
Weather is back to "shit#y"... oh.... hugs to you.
