There Is Always A First

Only yesterday we went to Laternelaufen, see St. Martin here, afterwards we headed to the city, we had fun.
We didn´t do power-walking, Ingo was a tad out of breath, but we were fine.

For what reason ever our doc found out Ingo suffers anemia again, gave him meds.

Ingo slept in, and I let him, might do him good, no?
He got up, had two toasts with honey...

I was in the bathroom when I heard a thump.

I found him between hall and living room, flat on the ground, like a fallen tree, face in a mud of blood, unconscious.

Let me tell you. Those first-aid programs, ha.
Worth not much.
I didn´t have the power, nor the space to get him into a safe position - and I tried hard.

Ran outside to get the neighbours for help, but no one was there on our level, I tried again, got him up, he was unhappy about the wooden floor covered in blood, mind you, I had other things going on in my head.

He fell backwards like a baby.
Got him up, but he fell again, right in front of the couch he slipped off me. Dammit.
On the face.

First time I called 112.

They came with a car and an ambulance, 5 men.
In the end they got him outside in a wheelchair, in the car lying down, off to the hospital.

Neighbour C suddenly was there, guess I was a mess a tad, she offered to drive me, but what for.

We needed a car later, right.

I called the hospital serveral times, no info.
Finally Ingo called to get him.

And, again, just like 2008... parking spot for me right in front of the hospital - on a Saturday, after lunch, when everyone visits - weird, no?

Yes. I took pics.
I knew there is no hurry.

I asked my way through, until I reached a nurse - it was the end of her shift and the patients, or rather their relatives, who talked to her gave her €10 - what a fine gesture, no?

The waiting area was full to the brim...

One doctor on duty, one.
Weird people waiting with me, I was thankful I brought a book.
45 minutes later Ingo made his way towards me, insecure and all.

They sent him home.

He had two bananas so far, face hurts, he did not fall again.

I don´t feel good about him being here, quite frankly.
Always the weekends when hospitals are full and no docs around.

Why I write it down. I have to get it out.
Ingo in a puddle of blood, face down, how do I get this picture out of my head.
And I just don´t have enough power to help him, to guide him safely.

Tuesday they wanna take care of his broken nose.
An operation.
With anemia - halleluja, the fun never stops.

Sorry, I just had to get it out.
I know.
If you look to Paris right now this is peanuts.
Still it´s my little world in danger.

Let´s hope we get safe through the night... my back hurts like crazy.

Sometimes you just get lucky - with the parking! But such a horrible experience. It sounds like the health system is the same everywhere :( Hope all goes well for you this week!

Yes, a friend wo´s in the health sector, told me they simply should´ve given him a B12-injection. No such luck, they cave tetanus, assuming he fell outside :-(
He´s better by now, yet it really was a frightening experience...

That was a frighting experience Iris, do you know yet why he fell, was it just because he's anaemic?
Tell him I hope he's taking it easy and recovers soon.

Well, we think it was due to being anaemic, maybe also some side-effects of the meds, he was pale like a sheet of paper. And I guess our doc might be on holiday...
Thank you, Sami, I´ll give your well-wishes to him as soon as he wakes up!

Oh my gosh Iris, what a very frightening experience for you both, especially you because Ingo would have been out of it! It sounds to me like he should be in hospital for some in depth tests. I know anemia makes one light hearted and prone to fainting but the question is WHY is he anemic in the first place oui?

Yes, Grace, I was in panic. It was horrible to see him like that. I´ve been through much with him, but this was terrible. All the blood, unconcious. Seemingly out of nowhere...
Maybe the lack of iron was the cause, I learned. But he has to take tests and prove that.
