Asian? Hungarian?
Sunday we went to the Asian Street Food Festival.
We settled for an Indian stall, when it was finally our turn Ingo ordered chicken. And they were out of chicken (why bother and take it off the menue, right?!) - as Ingo cannot have the one other thing - lentils - he ordered one only.
And at that very moment a lady popped up beside us and said to the "chef" she´d been to many Asian countries - his food is not Asian at all, it´s not good food.
Phew, that was juuust in time!
We went to Schadt´s.
All tables were taken and Ingo asked a young couple if we might join.
The man was having a Currywurst, his Asian wife just a juice. Strange, no?
The waiter came with two sets of fork and knive and one Currywurst for us, now, who is strange? ;-)
Oh, and certainly...
We got some more strange looks, but later they took to the method, too.
Ingo then started a conversation.
Turned out the two were from Hungary, living in Völkenrode, a village just around the corner.
They still had homework to do.
What?
The young man - Ingo is just a tad younger than his father! - produced the "educational books". Yes, that´s plural.
He works for construction and they want - not have to - learn German.
My goodness.
Ingo told him straight away it´s all nonesense :-)
And it is. Dative, genitive... who cares if it´s "die", "der" or "das" - it´s important you can name the thing you´re talking about!
It was a mix of German, Hungarian and mainly English and we had a fun time.
Boy, Hungarian is really complicated!
I had to ask A. to write it down and still.... Tough language!
Life... full of surprises, no? Yesterday morning I called our bakery to order our usual bread. "My" baker-lady took the call and I thanked her for the surprise-cheeseballs.
Guess what I found with the bread later? Two cheeseballs :-)

The bakery lady is a smart woman! And I love sitting down with people and just learning about them. Seems like a good conversation!
It was very interesting indeed, especially since the man seemed rather a tad unfriendly at first! Well, yes, now I have to find a little thank you for my bakery-lady!
Ice in the beer.. I remember that Iris 😀 I would love to speak more than one language, French seems the easiest!
You have a lovely bakery lady Iris.
As I don't drink beer, I have no idea if it tastes better with ice or not :)
Yes, Hungarian was a tough language, I tried learning "Thank you" but could never get it right!
I´d so love to be able to speak Italian, such a beautiful language, Grace!
Sami, yes, she likes especially when Ingo comes in, she thinks he shares my last name and always thinks it´s too funny to exclaim "Hallo Herr Kaiser" - maybe you remember this TV-ad for an insurance?
Yips, we stayed with the "cheers", too! It was just too difficult!
What a very nice 'baker-lady'
All the best Jan
Sadly (?) she retires soon, though.
