I do believe recycling is a must. It is good.
I just want to show you how it is like here so often... Like this:
Yes, you can use the next public container, but, hey, paper has some weight at some point and likely the public one is full already, too, and then you have to take it all home again.
Been there, done this, more than once, by foot.
So your place looks like this :-(
And, yes, I could bring out a bit every day, but, really, who does that? I had one bag and the containers (we have three "small" ones) were full. And more paper came in, and more and the containers were still full :-(
It´s "bearable" with paper, but weeee... same problem with stinking plastic, too often, also.
Whose fault is this?
The industry using way too much stuff to pack things, this was the last one I saw on Facebook that nearly made me cry or scream, rather...
Or is it the city for minimizing their crews all the time?
It´s annoying.
Yet, we are "good" people.
Students in this house are taking it easier.
Paper bin full? Pizza carton goes in the big rubbish bin.
Do I like that?
No.
Do I understand it?
Dunno.
Skipping studies for "Fridays for Future" and then acting like that... hmmm...

Oh ja, gleiche Geschichte hier. Plastikmüll nehme ich immer mit raus wenn ich was hab, ich bin ständig unterwegs. Papier sammle ich in eine Tüte und bring ich Montagsrunter nachdem sie die Tonnen entleert haben. Wir haben am Haus Tonnen for Plastik/Dosen, Papier und Restmüll. Die meisten hier im Hause machen mit, aber die Tonnen füllen sich sehr schnell. Zu viele nutzlose Verpackung!

Bei uns wird nicht wöchentlich geleert, das ist das Hauptproblem - das, und, ja, unnütze Verpackungen! Ständig hat man neuen "Recycling-Müll". Beim REWE könnte man einiges da lassen, aber... voll. Oder belegt. Trotzdem einen schönen Tag, gLG, Iris
Not easy to drop the recycling when the containers aren't nearby. Our yellow recycling bin takes paper, tin, plastic, glass, and gets collected every 2 weeks, but it's usually only 1/3 to 1/2 full, as I try to buy stuff without packages which is not always easy. I suppose if each of us did a bit it would help :)
Ours are separated but right in front of the house, just they don´t empty them in time. And then have a look at Grace´s container-post... it´s nothing we really do here, a tiny bit, only. Frustrating!

It is the same story.
We're not required to recycle, but once the city contracted with a company that worked like how Sami's recycling is handled, more people were willing to do it. They just didn't want to sort, sort, sort.
I'm the recycle queen (or I try to be). I rust my tin can lids and use them in my art. I sort my paper into various colors and make my own handmade paper. I use boxes to make backgrounds or assemblages. Very little goes to waste at my place. About the only thing I get rid of is trash, like containers that have specifically say DO NOT RECYCLE. The ones that get me the most are plastic milk containers. No one wants to take them. Sometimes I feel like I spend more money washing my recyclables than its worth to recycle. Still, I do my part. BTW, those waxy cardboard milk containers make great fire starters.

The City provides each household with a recycling bin which is being picked up on a weekly basis. Most people do participate (It is not mandatory here).
I absolutely refuse to buy vegetables wrapped in plastic Iris, Woollies got told off a while back for exactly what you showed here, single pieces of fruit or veg wrapped in plastic. I'm the same as Sami, I bring home almost no plastic at all, but really it's still just baby steps 💚
I try not to use plastic either, but I do recycle. Fortunately mine don't have to be sorted and they pick it up every week.
I do what I can to keep my carbon foot print down.

We don't recycle pizza boxes here in Connecticut US because they are usually grease stained. They only want "clean" paper, cardboard, etc. in the paper recycle bins. Our plastic containers have numbers on the bottom, so we can tell whether or not they go into the plastic recycle bins. If I get takeout food that comes in a sturdy plastic container, I wash the container and reuse it. So the system here seems to work pretty well. (But I do see a lot of litter everywhere, so some people carelessly throw garbage out of their cars as they're driving. There are fines for that, but unless they do it in front of a police car, they don't face any consequences, and don't seem to care about their own environment. I don't know what is wrong with people like that.)

Grace, sometimes it´s so ridiculous! I hope that facebook-pic was a fake (?) but we get cucumbers in plastic so they last longer in the store (I don´t buy that, either).
Baby steps are better than none at all :-)

Anne, wow, not the case here with greasy paper! Now I really do wonder about our recycling system!
Our doggy bags are so cheap you cannot reuse them, so when I go out I take my own container and colleagues laughed about me at first!
Yes, there sadly are many jerks out and about, I see it here way too often, also... litter, litter, litter.
I wonder if it´s not caring or provoking, though.
I don't get it. Seems like they should just add another few bins. They are lucky people are being so responsible and if it continues to be a pain, they will stop.
