This is my Uncle W.
One of the surviving children of my Grandma.
My "Uncle".
Yesterday his oldest Brother had his Birthday - or not? I cannot reach him.
I am not allowed to call him "Uncle", he feels old then, my, he must be in his 90´s.
We did not want any condolences at our Mum´s grave.
Every Sibling of her ignored it and hugged us, Siegfried, being the first cause being the oldest, accepted it, just bowed and passed by. We oldest ones, huh....
He came back after seeing what his Siblings did.
He took me in his arms and said, "Iris, my little Iris... you´ll always be my little Iris.. I am so sorry..."
How sad must it be to loose another Sibling, being the oldest and now I cannot reach him?!
I was on his boat, maybe at age 2, and grabbed every little thing on the floor, reaching up to him saying "found!"
He said in response, "good job, little Iris :-)"
And now I cannot reach him.
Asked Bro, have no other contacts.
Dear Siegfried, I hope you had a great day!
As told, I´ll never call you "Uncle". Your "little Iris"....
Addendum: My Brother is THE family guy and found out the new phone number.
He said "his Son" is there, but could not tell me which one. Dementia/Alzheimer´s is nasty...

I hope you are able to reach your uncle today, even if you aren't allowed to call him uncle. I hope he has a good birthday, too.
Elizabeth, he had, but he did not remember who I am...
That's a sad story, Iris.
Yes. I feel sorry for him...
...I'm called uncle and I enjoy it!
Dementia is a wretched disease. But I want to believe that those who have it will still appreciate love and care. I hope you will be able to see him when corinna eases. Even if he doesn't recognize you. Deep inside, perhaps he will.
Your uncle must have ALzheimers or dementia to not remember when he knew who you were. It is hard to see and deal with. Sorry he didn't remember you. That is hard for you for sure. But I did enjoy the family story. Hugs-Erika
Oh, this is so beautiful and so sad. I hope you reach him.
Greetings from London.
Tom, I like to be called "Auntie", too :-)

Jeanie, it´d be quite a journey and he felt so bad on the phone already.
BUT! If my Brother goes he´ll take me along :-)

Erika, my Grandmother didn´t recognize me anymore, either, thought I´m my Brother´s wife. It´s a nasty desease...

Cuban, I won´t try for a while, he felt so sorry...
Oh no that's so sad Iris, and you have so many nice memories of him. Dementia is the cruelest thing ✨
Oh, that's too bad he has Alzheimer's and does not remember you. But, it was very thoughtful of you to call him.
Grace, yes, it´s cruel....

gigi, all I could do...
Thanks for your response on my Medium page. I replied to your comment. I'm really sorry for what happened to you.
Greetings from London.
So sorry he doesn't remember; Dementia is such an awful disease.
My good wishes.
All the best Jan
I'm sorry for him.
I could image loosing my thoughts and such
My aunt was like that, not remembering anyone even her own children. It is a horrible disease to have and horrible to be on the other side as well. All we can do is remember the happy times we used to have.
I am so sorry to hear about the last part dear Iris. But I know in his heart, he remembers you and your brother. He is a good looking man on that photo! I wish him a great birthday, we are both Geminis.
No, Steve, the man on the first pic is my youngest Uncle, I am allowed to call him Uncle, too. A funny guy.
Siegfried. yes, he told his Daughter later I had called and even he didn´t know who I am it was nice I did.
I read of your answer you have such a "case" in your family, also...?
I know what that feels like when someone dear has it.
I didn't mind that I'd become a stranger. It was the conversations that I missed.
It's painful to see that much change in a person, no?
Hugs, Iris. :)
Thank you, Dee, yes, it was very painful.
My Brother forwarded me a photo later, it´s not only the mind, the whole man has shrunk...
