With this healthy drink I join Elizabeth´s T.
The journal:
Monday: Up at 05, laundry, paper-mail... the day starts, it´s getting light! -7C / 19F, brr, off to REWE.
Dude at the cash-out tries to pay via cell. Takes forever. Then card, takes forever, unpacks and leaves. After rolling my eyes I think, poor dude, shitty start to the day. No one moaned loudly.
Cash-out #2 opens, I jump after the others. Yelling at me:
"hey!!!!... You look like a ladybug! 🥰"
Do I love my Gurri (winter-coat).
The guy, maybe in his mid-20s, follows me. Amongst other the tiniest, saddest bunch of Gerbera in his bag.
Tells me, changing between causal "du" and official "Sie" that he has a female colleague who is always in a bad mood in the mornings, so he wants to cheer her up with the flowers. Cause actually she is really nice. He kept repeating this, because he was very proud of himself, I encouraged him, of course.
Not the brightest, but such a sweet guy, wishing me a good night.... um morning!!!
And at Tom´s I learn: "TODAY IS NATIONAL RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS DAY." Jupp!
Passed test #3. This pressure makes me sick. Sooooooo tired.
Tuesday: -9C/15F, but sunny. Time runs and I fight. WhatsApp: fK: wanna phone?
An hour, but it was good! To hear another voice, to chat and forget about the problems for a sec. And get advice.
Horror-studying again. 5 pages for the last question are lurking.
Evening (07 pm+ done studying) Lucy - a time warp: Romeo et Julietta!!! Ingo smoked those in Varadero/Cuba ages ago!
Everything is cold. Mouse, doorknob... earrings... nose.. 🥶
Wednesday: The most shocking news, brought to me by fK.
mM, who is a great guy, fun, full of enthusiasm, who brought 60 people into the company, who organizes and pays for the yearly cinema-Christmas-event from his private money for our whole team - and beyond, who emphasized it´s the railway-team with the spirit, who gave me the guarantee (written as authorized representative) that I get my job back if I have the certificate (and hence the job center pays for my training)... he lost his position and stubborn as he is... he might leave the company.
How can that be. I am shocked and so sorry.
mK took over, not really happy. He´d told fK once he wants me back (I´d worked for him, too), so not all seems lost but... mM was the heart and soul of our team. I, WE are shocked.
Won´t happen 😢
Why he lost his position if he is such a great guy? He tells you the truth.
You did something wrong? He names it, not really always friendly - but! He delivers a solution with it. The new lady from DB ECO group became the new CEO and obviously cannot take criticism...
Thursday: -5C/23F. And I have an app, means I have to leave the (cold) house.
Took off my mittens - hands deep red. Doc told me to keep Gurri & Co on!
He´s Greek, he understands what being cold is!!!
Before I went to REWE.
I got this with a happy smile and a "Happy afternoon!".. It was 07:09 a.m. or such!
I was still working on questionnaire #6. Turned out the last ones were optional!!!! For when you want to do teamlead - which I sure as hell do not want! So: ready, waiting for editorial stuff.
The BIG 2 was on HTML/CSS and done in no time.
Started the BIG 4 as 3 is again with "teacher" and starts Tuesday. Oh, my. German language at it´s finest... 65+ pages, too!
mM had to leave for good. No one knows details.
Friday: I had had enough. Studying 11 days in a row, often 9+ hours was enough. Even my doc on Thursday - he is a couple of years younger than me - said, 30 minutes learning and he needs a break!
Cleaned the living room, Ingo came home early, sat all arvo at the new PC, installing Linux and Windows 10 parallel for me, took care of the walking pad, helped me with studying in the sense he HAS such an old jigsaw which solved the "riddle" even the "teacher" could not solve... fK tried to build me up, too. That "teacher" wants me to be good... Hm. "Wanting" things not declared in the prompt...? I dunno. 12C / 53F - WHAT?
Weekend: Saturday: Tired, relaxing. Ingo made horse sausages again, YUM!
Ingo cooked - I sadly was too tired to take pics of all the fine ingredients, but next time I´ll do better and show you! The end result does not give it credit!
News. A 19-year old Syrian refugee stabbed down a tourist from Spain at the Holocaust Memorial in Berlin. An anti-Semitic assault is "assumed"..
These "refugees" need our "protection", you get that, huh?
Sunday: We went voting. Of course. Whilst Ingo is still interested in politics I kinda resigned. I voted, but I have low hopes for a change... We have no democracy. Lazy day.
I played the hairy one again:
Despite a new week starts I am supposed to cuddle up, yippeeee....
The new series:
"Not just cars: these things were invented in Germany
The
name of the drink comes from the German word 'fantastisch'. The soft
drink was invented out of necessity. Since the German population had to
cope with Coca-Cola's lack of raw materials due to the war, a new drink
was invented in 1940. Now Fanta is refreshing people all over the
world."
Not a fan... you?
Henry 🦁 & weekday-munchy:
Have a happy T-Day!

I don't like Fanta, it's too sweet even for me who loves sweet, but my sister loves it. I almost never drink soft drinks anymore, just water and sometimes coffee at home.
So sorry to hear about mM resigning 😢
I have some of those trolley chips, but they are just black, no smiley face.
Bad news! Sorry for you!
I dislike all those softdrinks, too, sugar only, brrr...
Yes, a mystery about mM... Today fK attends a meeting with mK, who took over. But reckon it all will remain a sad mystery. Most chips here have ads on them. But usually I take a basket.
For all of us... He was our glue...
Sorry to read your team leader is gone for good. I am sure all that training and studying will pay off in the end. AND it's free. You can't imagine what my schooling cost me!
I am not a fan of Fanta, but your carrot, etc. drink sounds good. Thanks fr sharing your calendar and your drinks with us for T this Tuesday, dear Iris.
How do you like Linux? I LOVE it. NO Windows for me.
Yes, am I glad the agency pays for this!
Oh, I run out of fun drinks to share at your party!
Linux... as long as Ingo has not installed a program for the TV I stay at my old PC. Also there are none of my data there (yes, I could use a stick)...
I'm so sorry to hear about MM. I remember your writing about him before and the party. Good news that your training is covered. Hang in there.
Yes, very, very sad with mM. Let´s see what the future brings...
Sorry to hear about mM, he sounds like a wonderful manager and it must have been such a shock for you and the team. Glad that you are getting trained up, it's always fun learning new things ❤️. Love your Henry plate - perfect! Wishing you a very Happy T Tuesday 😊. Hugs, Jo x
...Iris, I wish you plenty of happy day and a few shitty days so that you appreciate the happy ones!
I didn't know Fanta was from Germany. Isn't it now made by Coco-Cola? and you other drink, you always find such interesting mixtures for drinks. Did you like it Sorry to hear the man from the office lost his position. Some times honesty is what we need to hear, especially if it is for something that effects many people. We have a president who doesn't want to hear honesty either. And he's a fan of Putin-scary times. Have a super rest of your T day Iris. Oh and I wanted to mention, they say our winter is "normal", but we just haven't had any breaks from the cold. This past weekend was the first time our temperatures went over ) degrees C since December. hugs-Erika
Management changes are always stressful for the underlings, and yours sounds especially dangerous to your future …. hope all goes well and that they honor his promises.
best… mae at maefood.blogspot.com
Healthy drink for T! -Christine cmlk79.blogspot.com
Yes, sad... well, "back to school" ain´t easy at my age... aw, well! Hugs x
Thank you, Tom, for both! :-)
You are right, they belong to Coca Cola. The other drink was OK, but too expensive to buy again! Just saw how Macron handled your Orange - good job of the Frenchman! Oh, boy, each and every winter like that?! "Horrible" - wishing you spring soon, hugs
In my eyes it was a woman who suddenly got too much power... Reckon she did bad to our whole team with the move. Sad...
At times it´s needed ;-)
Sorry to hear about your team leader. Always hard to lose good people. You make so many friends wearing your Gurri. You make such a bright spot for someone's day. Politics. Yours is better than ours. At least yours didn't hand the country to the Communists like the US did.. I don't think I've ever had Fanta. Happy T Day
Yes, Gurri is one of the few things I like about winter! I do hope there will be more people like Macron, stopping your Orange... You missed nothing with that Fanta!
12 degrees celsius in the day? That is a bit nippy, hope you had warm clothes on. That recipe up the top sounds a bit strange, especially with olive oil, that stuff will clean you out.
LOL, 12C was WARM!!! Before we had minus over weeks!
It's always tough when you lose a good person at work no matter what their standing is. Maybe you'll hear the story someday. Good job passing those tests.
What a bummer about your manager.
You are working so hard. It's not easy to study after many years.
I'm not a fan of Fanta as I don't like soft drinks, but my late husband used to drink Fanta Limon.
I have to smile when you have another 'Guri-encounter'. It's a talking point.
Happy T-Day,
Lisca
Sorry for the bad shock, Iris. I always hated when people I loved left the company or moved to other parts of the company. Sending good thoughts that things will turn out well for both of you. Your classes/studying seem so intense - I am proud of all the effort you are putting into them. I don't do soft drinks anymore unless no choice, but I do like Fanta sparingly. Fun journal pages and details of your week - I really think I may try to do something like your journal one day. Happy T-day and wishes for a good week. hugz
What a heartwarming story! It's amazing how a simple encounter can turn a day around. The guy at the store sounds like he has a big heart, wanting to brighten his colleague's day with flowers. It’s the little things, like unexpected kindness and genuine compliments, that can make a huge impact on someone’s mood.
And I love that you tied it to National Random Acts of Kindness Day! It's such a great reminder to spread positivity whenever we can. I hope your day gets better and that you find some moments to relax and recharge despite the pressures of the tests. Sending you good vibes!
By the way, you are invited to read my new blog post: https://www.melodyjacob.com/2025/02/our-pre-valentine-visit-to-pitlochry.html
What a week, Iris. So sorry about mM, he sounded like such a good person.
The German election results are a little alarming, especially the part about Musk backing the far right party. Scary!
Yes, a sad mystery... Thank you, I hope to keep on passing!
Yes, I feel too old to study! Yet it hopefully goes on till December... even if someone is missing now. Gurri really is one of the few things I love about winter!
Yes, it came totally out of the blue, for all of us. And yes, at my age studying again, oh, what was I thinking! Yes, yes, please, join me with the journal - I started like that too - II think her name was Eileen, she sadly passed away... would be nice to not be alone with this no more - hugz
Thank you, yes the little things can be pretty big, and it´s so easy to do, too! Thanks, too, for the good vibes, off to your place :-)
Yes, mM is a good person...
Politics... I don´t think much will change... All politicians want is getting money themselves... I gave up... I cannot believe into those liars anymore. One is as bad as the last one.
