Brainfood For Eight-Graders

This green box was in my Advent-calendar, I had to ask what it is for, ice-cream? I don´t like sweets and my friend knows that. She said coffee-powder (I´m a tea-guy, though).

We had some milk left over from last weekend-cooking, so I asked Ingo to bring me some cocoa for a tad of sweetness in the milk.

Now the little ghost has a job to do :-)
And don´t you say milk is good for you, helps kids learning and all?

I told Ingo how Bro and I struggled with math to learn how much pixel we need to get 9 mm - we got the job done, or rather Bro did, and it took forever.
Bro got it done via cross-multiplication. We joked that´s what we actually learned in 8th grade, right?

I also have (had) difficulties with calculation of percentage.
My Mum said that´s cause I went to Gymnasium (school) - you learn nothing but how to discuss.
Bro went to junior high school and learned the essential stuff.
Still none of us had to use cross-multiplication ever since.

You know Ingo, huh?

Out of the blue he gave me/us a solution so much easier than how we learned it back then!
And also percentages are easy - how come it was explained so long-winded back then?!

Made me thinking - and looking it up.
For some reason I stopped at page 229 with Rudy Rucker´s book "The Fourth Dimension" (in German!!! And that is difficult enough for me!), there is still the bookmark there.
Was the holiday over? Or was my brain no more capable of getting it?
Maybe some day I re-read it and discuss it with Ingo...

Other...
Boy, I sure do know why I wanted wood, not carpet. In the bedroom I didn´t use the vacuum-cleaner for a reason, look at all the dust - and stupid feathers - I got - the dust at least goes into the carpet, right?

I cleaned - with many, many breaks - the whole condo, vacuum and mobbing.
I´m still slow, but it´s great to be able to get on the knees again and all.
Still hurts like nearly on the first day, though.

Those cushions are terrible btw, I once even found a feather in my hair at work!
Work btw - I was terrified to use the old elevator at 05:45 in the morning - what if I get stuck there?
I just brought out the rubbish and: steps up is ok, just down is a problem and in the afternoon there are heaps of people to help if I get stuck :-)

Ahhh, slowly back to normal, I say!

And I have to admit... these last days being signed sick.. they are a wee bit like a holiday.

Sounds to me like you are starting to get a wee bit bored and restless being cooped up all day Iris. Will be good when you are out and about again oui!
p.s. I often wonder about all the stuff we had to learn at school.. WHY :)

A wee bit, Grace ;-)
It´s as Ingo always says: Teach reading, writing, calculating and then let the kids decide, guided.
