Perth Is Not Venice

Yesterday we made it slowly to the city again and got all the Perth-pics printed that I have picture frames for - now all I need is space ;-)
Sadly the eyes are Zombie-like red from the "fresh" air again and hurt :-(

It hurts but I can work the clutch, so off to work it was today.
Certainly I had the new password saved, but since I didn´t know for 100% I had informed teamleader who asked the EHD to reset it and send it via mail.
And certainly the mail hadn´t arrived yet.

So I called the EHD to reset it again, so I can fetch it personally. It´s just some 400 m from my office - a long way with that dang foot and a jacket too thin. Note: Mornings are really cold still!

I called the EHD at 05:50 and the guy there said from 08:30 on I can come over to get it.
I arrived 08:28 and they expected me already, like: The right guy was on the phone with my new password! He had my name ready at hand! Otherwise I´d say he just works off a list with random users. Weird.

I mean... how? Volkswagen is not a little shop around the corner, right?
And no, don´t ask. I don´t get it either, why I had to get to Volkswagen´s gate to receive the phone call there and not in "my" office - it´s beyond my understanding! It´s both my customer´s phone-system, right?

When my colleagues came in later they certainly had to make jokes like, "ahhh a new colleague!" Or, stepping back, checking the office number, "oh, I am in the right office - who are you? ;-)"
Friend P was really down saying sorry more than once for not being there for me. Turned out she had to do some of my work herself and was in the office every day from 9-7. She, too, has to drive to Braunschweig - when everyone drives, not as early as me, so add nearly 2 hours driving back and forth.
Understandable she was tired after that!

Why "Perth is not Venice"?
Here you have with Packstation the possibility to get parcels at automated booths near where you live.
I prefer this because the mailman, if you´re not home, gives the parcel to some neighbour you can run after several times or, worse, just puts it down in the hall.
The chances of someone living in the house taking it is low, but very often people leave the main door wide open, so anyone can step in.
Yes, I was home - but the bell is turned off. Every post-service is lazy and rings here and trys to give parcels to one of the three apartments on ground floor, pretending the people in 5th floor aren´t there to take it.
You have to take it, sign, store it, wait for the guy to eventually some day come get it.
People bringing in cataloges and stuff also ring here - no way anymore, I´m long fed up with that!

(Yes, "the guy" made it to a paper-version, too :-)...)

I had ordered the little Luigi who holds your spoon in his gondolier (in his little Venice, I suppose) in the cooking-process, practical and cute - and certainly nothing I need like right now. I´m not the chef anyways...
The Packstation very near by was full. Again! So they simply sent it to the main post station - so not nearby and also again.
They inform you via e-mail.
Why not ask if you can wait and want to grab it from where you ordered it to?
So, only today I could go and get him on the way home from work.

Now imagine you´re old and alone - are you supposed to get a taxi for 10 euro to get your parcel and then one for another ten bucks back home???

Really that is no good or senseful service! (Yes, Ingo´d offered more than once to go get it together, but as said, I don´t need Luigi to survive, right?)

Well. Work was routine, mostly. I´m back at it.
Gone are the lazy days at home.
Really, this last week, with being more mobile, less in pain was a wee bit like a holiday. One really could get used to it.

And what do you think, the "construction site" where I never saw someone work is gone?
Nope. It has grown and again, no material, no machines, nothing!

Oh. And, no. Despite being a Pizza-lover I´ve never been to Italy so far...

You can now enjoy the sights of Perth again with all the photos around the house. I see Grace and I have made an appearance in Braunschweig also.
