Neighbors

I really had to grin about this one.

My kindergarten-friends were no neighbors, the first years my parents had to bring me to them or them back home.

The neighbor´s kid... was a lot taller, older, from.. ? Poland?
I had a hard time with him until... one day where I was on skates when he attacked me.

My Dad´d told me how he "beat up" a bigger kid once and so I put all my sh.. courage together and slammed my foot aka skate into his shin.

He never ever troubled me - or my lille Bro - again.

Met him a couple of years ago in Bro´s (family´s) shop again.

He greeted me nicely, even seemed to be happy to see me.

Maybe to him we had "great times", huh ;-)

My very first childhood memories in the aftermath go back to year 1 1/2.
I´d been sent to my Grandma´s Sister who´d been a Nun, her name was Aunt Lina.
She potty-trained me in two weeks and I still remember the bad smell of her bathroom where she made me sit like forever.

And the red suitcase with a toy I had with me (I don´t remember the toy, though).

Did you have fun with your neighborhood-kids?

I remember my neighbours, 3 brothers around the same age group of me and my sister's and a younger girl. We used to climb trees, pick fruit, build things in the garden. I was 14 when we moved to South Africa and that was the last time I saw them.
You were brave to attack that boy, maybe bullies just need a surprise attack.

Aw, have you ever tried to find them online? I mean 14, that is some age already!
In fact I still have a "friend" in Hamburg, we met at a kid´s holiday at age 14 for 2 weeks in England and still write each other birthday cards.
Yes, it took a lot of courage and he was more than surprised. Still strange advise from my Dad...

One of my best friends lived across the street from my house as we grew up, we kept in touch for quite a while but eventually it petered out, mainly my fault.. I'm hopeless. I kind of think what's past is past, the future is now ☺

Well, that is a clear cut! :-)
