On To Hawaii
Yayyyyy, we won lotto and ... no.
Childhood memories... When sweet is too sweet for a kid even!
My Mum had a friend who came from Spain, Barcelona. I never met that friend, yet she formed my childhood.
It physically hurts when someone says it wrong, Barcelona.
Same with Hawaii, a hard "w" hurts.
Oh, do I miss my Mum right now.
Just weeks before she left us, in hospital Hannover, we took her down for lunch into the cafeteria.
Bro and I ordered Toast Hawaii - every time - cause they made a super-super-mega-super Toast Hawaii there.
It was fab!
And Mum smiled big, enjoying us enjoying it, probably thinking of her Mum making us some.
With that nasty, wayyy too sweet "Maraschino cherry", brrr...
NameSis enjoys them in vodka once in a while, another brrr... (like in vodka being the brrrr (not that I ever tried one)).
You wonder why it´s called "Toast Hawaii"?
In the 1950s (West-)Germany was poor, but safe.
They longed to take a holiday in paradise, so one cook came up with the receipe where you put a slice of a pineapple - a rare and expensive but affordable item once in a while - onto a slice of toast. And dream yourself to Magnum P.I.´s place :-)
Both very yummy, don´t you agree?

Can't imagine eating pineapple with cheese. Never had pizza with pineapple either, but maybe it's actually nice, just doesn't work in my mind.
Give it a go, it´s really yummy (for me)!
I think that you are missing your mum a lot right now Iris.. lovely memories you have ✨ I'm not into pineapple so much but I'm sure it tastes tres delicious 😊
Yes, Grace, I do miss her - these were her last weeks in 2011.
It´s yummy, as is Pizza Hawaii :-)
