Tuesday I made my way to my family in Seesen, or the village nearby.
Looked the tram up on the Braunschweig Bahn website, as usual, #2 it says goes via main train station.
I hopped in.
All as usual. Until.... that darn thing keeps driving on straight, not left to the main train station.... PANIC!!!! If I have to run I miss the train!
Luckily this guy, looking a tad tough but wearing a Henry turned out to be friendly and knew what to, so, oh boy!
The train gave a different destination on the panel. Hmmm. Right one? I asked a lady, she "assumed" yes. I thought so, too and went inside. Another woman came in... "does this train go to Seesen?" - I said, "I very much hope so!" and another guy, "yes ๐", phew!
The lady took the place opposite me, a muslima of another kind. No headscarf, telling me she kicked out her husband, and the doc she goes is "sooo hot". But, to Mecca she goes. Times are a changing!
As expected my Brother tortured me.
Optometrist-glasses on he kept and kept and kept changing and asking "better or worse?" - and not just letters and numbers, noooo. circles with dots and all that whole program.
Reckon it was a check on the instruments as as siblings we click and I can answer fast - he said:
"Finally someone who decides quickly!!"
I kept the old glasses as it ain´t that worse so far, but have a new frame.
Then off to get Wee One. Or... the younger Niece?
Wee One (nearly 5) is not wee anymore - loud, and honestly, if she didn´t look like my Brother and myself I might assume Ingo is the Father.
How can such a small body - still and again - produce SO.MUCH.NOISE?! She is LOUD.
But she is still wee. She grabbed my hand all the time, but expected me to hold it tight, why is that, she just laid her hand in mine without grabbing tight herself, parents, explain?
And time JUST WITH ME - alone!!!! , she wanted. No Daddy, no big Sis!
And "the Big Sis"... always understanding.
With rolling eyes, of course.
They showed me the new house and the kids ran their energy off:
Big Niece is so mature (reckon due to dealing with diabetis 1), she gets frustrated often, though - I could help saying, "yes, that´s being the big Sis", or, when Wee One misbehaves and gets everything I point to my Bro and say, "guess how it was like back then" and she laughs again.
Big One was brought to her sports place by Daddy and Wee One finally had time just with (a very stressed) me.
You cannot leave me alone with a child!!!
She grabbed a glass and I thought she wants sweets again, asked me to open it - STRESS! Can I allow her to have even MORE sweets?!
It WAS indeed sweet - without the "s", it was a jar from their last holiday and she picked the best she could to take home for me:
What a dumb Auntie am I?!
She wanted to come with us to the train station in Seesen and even though she became bored to the brim as the train was again late she gave me felt 100 air-kisses for good-bye ๐งก๐๐
It was horrible again to travel with the mask on, I was soooo tired and cold when I was finally home (having taken tram #1!).
Divers and Sundry had this bitter sweet comedy, have a look here.
What has this to do with this post?
Whilst my SIL was working 50 km away my Brother, as often, took care of the kids. Times luckily became a changing in this sector (I don´t think she beats him up ๐).
Seesen. Huh. No Henry for that place? Ha, today I give you two:
Henry has a Sibling there!
P.S. Blogger again. Today I´m actually with Tom´s Signs 2, but blogger had another opinion.

I'm sure your day was fun seeing your nieces. I bet they had fun with you. Kids are funny. They seem to love visitors who aren't quite sure what to do with them. And I know what you mean about getting your eyes checked. I go in a few weeks-eeks. Happy Wednesday!
Yes, apart from the traveling it was fun! :-)
A happy Wednesday to you, too! And have "fun" with the eye-checking.... gahhh....
sounds like a fun day-thanks for visiting my new blog-I figured out some things this morning-finally haha
Kathy, it was a fun day. I told blogger to... aw, forget about that - it´s a pain!!! ;-)
Actually I´m with Tom today and this was supposed to be up for tomorrow.
What's lovely, if somewhat nerve-wracking, day you had Iris. Sometimes, often ๐ young kids are a wee bit of a mystery. Sounds like a wonderful day. Does Ingo sometimes comes with you?
Grace, rather not. But when they visit us Ingo seems to enjoy the kids.
A bit ๐.
enjoy
Sounds like you had fun with the wee ones. I like train rides but only if they're going where they say their going. Don't need any extra stress. You definitely don't need the train to keep on rolling all night long. Enjoy the day!
Kathy, did!

Bill, the visit was fun, the rest nahhhhh! Today was cleaning up, tomorrow... taxes.
So let´s enjoy today!
I had to laugh at your train dilemma at the beginning of your trip. I guess it was all worth it. Your time with the wee one was delightful.
gigi!!! ๐ I´m panicking pretty quickly and use these things near to never! Always an adventure (they could keep their service up to date, though!).
Yes, Nieces and Bro were fun ๐งก
...never judge a book by its cover or a big dude by his appearance!
I am so, SO glad you were able to go visit your family. I love the pressies from your nieces -- so sweet. And isn't it wonderful to be so loved by a child? This post has me smiling big.
Yes, it was very sweet! One has to enjoy as long as it lasts!
It is good that you finally got there! And got home again! ;-)
Dear Iris, you really have a gift in writing because as I read the whole post, I felt like I was with you on the train, with your nieces, all of it! It was so vivid and I feel happy because it was like I also went outside! I am very happy that you got to reunite with the kids and I am very very sure you are very much missed by them. I am happy how big niece is becoming more and more mature, well she gets a lot of it from her auntie for sure :)
Sending you hugs dearest Iris!
Good to hear you got to spend time with your brother and nieces (who sound really nice kids, by the way).
Good that you got away. I haven't seen a member of my family since the beginning of the year.
I always want to ask my optometrist “ which one do you want me to choose? ... I want to make you happy.” Or else I dither “that one...no wait a minute the other one.” Your brother would hate me.)). Your nieces sound like a lot of fun for a good Auntie! One of our great-grandsons has T-1 Diabetes since he was 3. He is 11 now...it does make him seem mature for his age, in some ways.
I think we all are going to be wearing mask for some time.
RedPat, yes, but it´s not home no more, I got away at age 17 and for good in my early 20s. So much has changed!
____
Dear Stevenson, you´re so sweet, glad I could take you out like that. Today I can take you on a crazy tour With Kermit, LOL... hugs to you!
____
Margaret, yes, mostly they are good kids, but then... they are kids! ๐
____
William, that is sad, hope you can be able to see them soon.
____
Yes, my Brother would surely bite his lip with you, LOL!
Oh, since age 3, it must´ve been hard for the parents! And it takes away a happy childhood.
I really do wonder how they would be without that burden...
____
Dora, I sadly have to agree with you...
