Words For Wednesday On Friday

See River for instructions, I took the challenge at the first list:

1. pipes and drums band

2. patch

3. setbacks

4. garnish

5. rubble

6. costly

This, as usual, is a story from my real life.

Ingo (Hubby) got a bagpipe, to my utter dismay. And the neighbours´ likely, too.

I once fell badly and broke my arm, virus in hospital, doctors didn´t take me serious, part of the bone had rotten away (I was too young to make them take care) but in another hospital - yay to Hanover!!! - they patched it with titanium (I still have it and cannot brake that part of the arm anymore).

As a funny side-note: Our Aussie wedding rings are made from titanium, also. Strong stuff.

My garnish were fat, red scars, Ingo wanted to take pics and sadly I didn´t allow him to. When people now say, "eww, huge scars", I´d like to have a pic, my arm looked like a fresh Cordon Bleue before it hits the pan! Bon Appetit 🥩 - Now I, at least, do not see them anymore. Nearly.

At work a new colleague entered years ago, when the scars were still very well visible. His setbacks were even worse. He lost two fingers, well, a rest is still there.

At first he always quickly hid the hand when I came in to ask something - until on one very hot summer day I wore a shirt that did not cover the scars.

He stared at them, then showed me his hand and never hid it again. He put his shame to rubble. Gone with it. He even wears rings now. See, my scars were good for something after all.

He later became my teamleader, my friend now. We went through a lot and talk via Whats App every day.

There is a band in this area, which he loves, The 38th-district Pipes and Drums Band.

Very un-costly for him I managed to give him Ingo´s bagpipe, gone, out of the house with that squeaky thing!

On a visit I saw it sitting neatly presented in the corner and asked (boy are we dumb!) - "and, how´s it going with that?"

Him: "Not at all. I totally forgot I´m missing fingers and cannot play it!"

Mind you, we even were able to laugh about that!

Henry 🦁 ? He´s happy!

 No more squeaking anywhere!

I t would be very hard to play the pipes with missing fingers :)
Maybe he could beat the drum instead?
I like the sounds from a pipes and drums band, but the squeaky squealing learning stage is hard to listen to.

He can play the drums if he wants to, he lives in a village nearby, I won´t hear it!😁
His new girlfriend might have another opinion... LOL

I checked this out and what a clever way to use words for a challenge. I've already posted today but think I might try this another week. Have a great start to your weekend. Hugs-Erika

I like bagpipes but I wouldn't want to hear them all the time. :)

Especially not from a learner! ;-)

My cousin plays the bagpipes in a band but I have never heard her. She says she isn't very good but enjoys the friends she has made in the band.

I love bagpipes.

Every now and then I hear a bagpipe piece I like, but most sound like Lzzie when she sees another cat on her territory out the window. Nice gob, getting rid of it. I"m sure it's very decorative!

That titanium is strong and light. Rick's bike frame is that. The dif between picking up his and mine is amazing.

It is sad that he lost those fingers, but I am glad that he is no longer ashamed thanks to you. It is good that you keep in touch. So sorry that you had to go through that ordeal with your arm.

I agree that titanium is strong and lightweight, too. Sorry the arm had to go through that, but it's strong at least.

quite a fun way to have a challenge. I might check it out next week. Sorry your friend lost his fingers and can't play the bagpipes, but at least they make a nice conversation piece in his home.

Jeanie, you made me laugh so hard! 🤣 By golly, I´m re-thinking if I want a cat now!!! I´ve been through the noise, right?
He´s OK with his hand now, he really is.

Natalia, thank you and a happy weekend for you!
