So I went to the doc before I met Ingo in the city on Friday.
I´m not dumb, took my kindle, that was with full battery - in theory.
Thanks to "Corinna" all public stations to leave books are closed, so people put their "pre-loved" stuff on the street.
I saw this book:
I was late, but I returned, took that one book. Then returned (sometimes I´m "a woman") and returned for a pic for you. (Boy, as in I cannot decide! And maybe that´s a good thing after all - to women and men!)
I was 10 minutes early. Sat down in the waiting room. Mask on. Kindle on. Not working. Turned it off. On - not working. Off, on.... ONE HOUR, Over ONE HOUR I had to wait!! For a 3-minute meeting with the doc! (She is quick... with me - THREE MINUTES!)...
Every woman there had a technical device to look on and me... I got out that old fashioned paper book!
Oh, come on!!! That is OK!
I found out: More than OK, I enjoyed reading a paper-book much more than swooshing on all the time and then!!!
I do not read novels, but this was a "half-novel"; that´s why I picked it and what better book to pick when seeing your gynecologist anyways (just cancer control).
Midwife Marthe has grey-green eyes. Guess who, also? (yep, me).

As said, only half a novel, true facts included. What were the chances???
Life starts scaring me.
I wear my "Love of My Life"-T-shirt, blog about the encounter with the cash-out-lady two days later and Ella says she fell asleep and woke up with that song for two days, now knowing why.
Or Lisca saying she got Harissa, when mine is nearly empty and I said to Ingo I need to buy new one...
Maybe my Brother is right and there is more than science.
My kindle wasn´t loaded fully or I don´t know, works again, phew!
Do you believe there is more than what we can grasp?
Are my parents, my Omi still somehow there? If so, wouldn´t that "place" be full to the brim? Are my animals there, also?
I grew up with science, my 5 1/2 years younger Brother married in church, but his kids are not baptized, yet the big one takes part in plays at church. There is no rule... nothing to really rely on. Or can you combine these two, I would not know how, but lately so many incidents "scare" me.

He has none. He - as we - is afraid there will... irony... be no Christmas Market due to "Corinna" this year. He will be so lonely!
Maybe I have to buy that thermos (red with white dots!!! Hello, Gurri), fill it with mulled wine, go and sit by Henry and say "Cheers, ole pal", enjoying a sip.

If I know I'm going somewhere that I might have to be waiting, I make sure to plug in the kindle and fully charge the battery the night before, it has never failed me yet. Same with my phone, overnight full charge and also the power bank gets fully charged to carry with me, to recharge the phone if I use it too much and the battery line goes in the red.
I read only paper books, I find it very uncomfortable to read using any devices and I just love the smell and touch of real books☺Stay safe and healthy everyone!

Natalia, I love that with the kindle you have not much weight/space and a huge variety. But I have to admit,.... this paper book is more fun!
You will know from my blog that I think there is much more to life than science. And I have no trouble coexisting science with knowing my creator.
I find the reading experience of a paper book to be better, besides I like to collect them so at a glance at my bookcase I can enjoy the books again. That said I do sometimes resort to ebooks when I am travelling because it is light and easy. I also read my Bible in e format because it is easier to mark verses.
I wish everyone would be like you - coexisting i the "secret"!
Yes, it always hurts me to give a "real" book away, but knowing someone might take and enjoy it is a good thought!

That is such a beautiful culture iris, to leave books for other people to read them, we don't have that culture here but yes, this pandemic sure has hurt that culture too. You just made me charge my old iPad mini and gave me an idea on how I can read some readings for my Grad School without the need to open my Laptop HAHA.

I used to have a Kindle and read a lot of memoirs about near-death experiences. Then I threw it away because it was obsolete. I don't read books anymore. I read the newspaper and google for information. That's it.
I definitely take a book with me when I have any kind of appointment Iris, especially the hairdresser. Why is it they ask you not to be late for appointments, then you end up waiting at least 10 or more for them 😉 I hope you enjoyed your book reading experience 😁
I always read paper books, no devices for me. My wife has a kindle and loves it. I look at a screen enough during the day so I don't need any extra devices to carry or charge up. I hate waiting for doctor appointments, they're the ones who are always late.
I beleive there is more than we know. I also believe in science. And I'm not sure the two are mutually exclusive. Meanwhile, we all work with what works for us.
I don't have a kindle -- all my books are paper. Maybe someday when I'm older and need big print. Tll then, I love the feel of a book in my hand!

Bill, I agree with both of you. A real book is great but with a kindle you have no weight and hundreds of books with you.
And... YES. My house-doctor I can call before going, they say, "no, wait an hour before coming here" and I STILL have to wait endlessly!

My eyes get tired quickly on the kindle, but you are right, at least we can make it all BIG ENOUGH, oh, my. As FIL says... get old or die, right,let´s get OLD!
When sitting in a waiting room, I actually enjoy just watching people around the place. Virtually every person will have a screen of some kind - they never notice anyone else in the room let alone anything that might be going on in the environment. I like to watch their expressions and observe what they are wearing and even how they sit and fidget. I'm addicted to People Watching!! LOL
yes! Finally someone who loves real books as much as I do. I can't stand technology taking away the real feel and smell of paper books.
