It is still super-"timely", don´t you think? Do you get the "Corona-dates" in EVERY news, too, despite you never got tested yourself or know anyone who was and it always is very "precise", like for our region (Lower Saxony): 17.133.

Every day they come up with new "precise" numbers and no one I know knows where they get these from.
They also state to know how many died "from or due to/with" Corona and also how many infect others - now, the latter is statistically, they say. Bummer.
Guess the person who modified this sign in Florence back then was maybe a visionary?
I am so fed up with the "numbers" the German "Robert Koch-Institut" comes up with.
Why do we never ever get numbers on the flu? Hey, it´s soon the time of the year for that over here!!!
Once in my life I agreed to getting a shot "against THE flu". I was tired for two weeks and, as usual, I did not "get" the flu.
Those things are called "virus" and mutate all the time, as do we.
Right? Will there be .134 today or maybe .137 over here in this lille part of Germany? Maybe people learn to not get close, not cough or sneeze at each other, and we´ll be "OK".

Ingo, yes, he can snuggle up to a point I cannot breathe properly anymore, the love of your life can do that, right. I sleep better when his weight is on me. Family, a hug, yes, a kiss, I enjoy that, friends, certainly, too, but strangers?!
Oh, "Corinna", you drive the world nuts, and the flu gets small at your side,yet is as dangerous to certain groups. The flu gets forgotten.

He´s a "MAN" and wants to kick "Corinna" and the Flu in the butt for good. Or the people who do not get how to live properly. (DISTANCE!). We live with HIV due to knowledge, "Corinna" has to get in line, too. Don´t you think? "She" will stay, we have to cope.

I totally agree with you Iris. People seem to have forgotten how many thousands of people die EVERY YEAR from influenza and other respiratory viruses. Even when a vaccine for Covid-19 is 'found' they will need to keep making different ones each year as the virus will do what viruses always do and mutate into a different strain. Every year from now on, people are going to die of this virus just like they do from any other virus. It is a horrible thing that we have to learn to live with, and creating fear and panic through such specific reporting does not help the process.
Yes. It is natural. It is life, evolution and the politicians use it to create fear, to keep us under control, not seeing the whole picture.
My Brother has a little shop. He says he has to close it down soon.
So many shops are closed already.
What will be next?
Is human life getting that dumb? I hope we will cope, will come to our minds...
I can NOT sleep if someone is lovingly snuggling close to me, with arms thr4own over me, I feel as if I am being held down, trapped and cannot get away. I was able to sleep in a chair with my babies held against my chest when they were tiny, but my husband had to keep to his side of the bed for sleeping.

I am a space person too, so social distancing doesn't bother me too much. And I must say I am a numbers/data junkie. We get them from the center for disease control here in the US and I have even been writing them down. I know all about Robert Koch too (OK my microbiologist is coming out). And here at least the numbers are reported cases by doctors and hospitals. Kind of scary they have to report the kinds of cases they get. But who knows how many people don't see a doctor or hospital and don't get reported. Happy Wednesday. Hugs-Erika

Too many places have to close down due to the lack of customers, it is such a shame.
Like you, I do like the social distancing, however. Love getting on public transit and having the seat next to me empty. Love going to the museum with timed tickets to control the crowd.

We've been lucky with Covid here in Australia, specially in Western Australia where we only had 9 deaths (781 Australia wide).
I actually read recently in a Medical journal at work that last year we had over 1000 flu deaths, but none this year. A lot more people got vaccinated against the flu before Winter, social distancing...all helped I'm sure.
I'm with you on the flu vax, I had my first one 10 years ago and was sick for 6 weeks. Somehow I just can't bring myself to get vaccinated again even though I work in a medical clinic. This year I actually got a sore throat last month and didn't go to work for 3 days, but I don't normally get the flu.
Those are happy low numbers indeed, Sami! Corinna, I mean, flu,... huh!
Distance, right. Sneeze, if you must, into your arm, wash hands etc and we are good, right, no witch-craft needed!
I'm tired of it, but I'd rather keep on with the effort instead of risking it coming back worse.
I'd just like a vaccine out there, the sooner the better.
Once we get used to adjusting, it won't be a big deal anymore. But everyone doesn't want to change their ways. Change, get sick, die those are the choices. I like your sign, it's different.

I get what you mean dear Iris and that is very puzzling as I realize now that you have pointed it out! One crazy thing about Data here in the Philippines is that every Monday of the week there is what they call "Mass Recovery" wherein thousands (around 10,000-20,000) per week are being moved from active case to recovered instantly, that does not include the daily recoveries. It's always every Monday and I have no idea what that means or what miracles the ministry is taking note of! Now when you look at the graph of our Active Cases, it's like a heart beat scanner. Zigzags, no curves!
If we knew where the data came from I´d believe them, but we are not dumb, are we.
There is many a crazy virus around and this one they pick out big, it seems to me.
I am older than you, but I feel safe when having the distance.
That was the case every Autumn/Winter here with the flu, also! I grew up with not sneezing at another person etc...
Reckon one of the main problems: People who get drunk forget about distance and BOOOM. "Gotcha", big Corinna says. Dumbness helps her a lot, also. Ignorance. Not speaking the language.... not getting the point.
We´ll have to cope and live with her.

I just got back online after being without internet all day. I love the revised sign and Henry, too. They are great.
Here in the states, we get daily updates as to the virus. Some suggest we aren't seeing everyone who is diagnosed. BUT, we also get daily updates on confirmed dead from the virus. It's been about 1000 per day until this week, where the totals have dropped to around 500 a day. Shows masks are working. Of course, we had a three day weekend, and many people were out and about, so the numbers could rise again next week. I don't put much count in confirmed cases, but DO in those who have been confirmed dead due to the virus.
I look at the numbers every single day. In our county, they just went up again -- that's because all the students who had leases on their apartments came back, even though all their classes are on line. They party, no distance, no masks.... makes me crazy.
