I join Rain´s Thursday´s Art & Dinner Date with the theme Outdoor furniture today.
Balcony...
...I can enjoy...
The problem is... the fresh mushrooms go bad in no time in the wet, so I had to take care.
I cut them down, put them in the pan, just like Jamie said with nothing, so they get nuts nutty.
Meanwhile cooked rice, but not as long as the instruction said.
Since ages there is white and also red wine in the kitchen, both opened, so I threw the rice to the mushrooms, added broth and white wine, salt, pepper and lemon pepper.
Besides I fried with ... oh, I can´t remember... Garam Masala, ... also paprika, salt...
It was super-yummy and so easy to make!
Ingo thought I used Worcestersauce, nope. Must´ve been the wine and the lemon pepper.
To be repeated. It lasted all week (Ingo hates such dry chicken).
Really, I may repeat myself.
I am so glad (in the aftermath) the company I worked for for 18 years got a new boss who, with the "outcome" of our main customer´s Diesel-affair and hence the loss of my project, threw me out.
It was needed!
Both parents with cancer till the bitter end, sick Hubby, Bro with a break down and twice a horrible colleague, working full time all the time... my brain was burnt out.
I got signed sick, found Elizabeth and with her inspiration and new blogger friends - started sketching and later cooking and even baking!
The two latter never were my interest, as kid I wasn´t even allowed in the kitchen cause I feared everything hot.
Jamie Oliver taught me to cook with his "you can do it this way or yours". More inspiration!
And now I ENJOY cooking and baking (hearty things).

What a lot you went through, Iris
But it all turned out fine in the end.
Bro is a Daddy of two now :-)
So happy you are enjoying your cooking adventures in the kitchen now-and your meal looks delicious. hugs from the lake
Oh, yes! It´s fun, easy and healthy! Hugs to you and the lake
...we eat chicken often.
Well, it´s yummy :-)
I am glad you learned to enjoy cooking and baking after all those years being fearful. I am looking forward to helping the twins learn such things, although I might not have to teach much, their daddy is a good cook and has helped me in the kitchen since he was eight. The other kids too, when my oldest was 12/13 she would cook dinner some nights for the family.
My Brother was taught, too. As well as Ingo and his Brother.
Aw, well better late than never :-)
Have with the twins when they reach that age!
Sounds yummy! I guess I need to find out about garam masala, as you are the second person to mention it today. Yes, it sounds like you needed a new, more peaceful direction in your life. I am glad you found it.
You went to a lot of trouble. Can't believe you said it was "easy."
Granny Sue, it´s an alrounder, I would say.
Yes, sometimes life finds it´s way, luckily :-)

Elizabeth, but it really was an easy dish, fast, too!
That sounds and looks delicious to me.
I like your summer chair too.
This post has made me hungry! Am joining Henry and coming over!
You approach things with wisdom. Almost everyone I have ever talked with has said being let go from a job was -- in retrospect, certainly not at the time -- the best thing that ever happened to them. THey were able to attend to family matters, as you did, or to regroup and ultimately find something that makes them much happier, a better fit.
I'm glad that happened for you.
Love your summer pix. Grab it while you can!
The food sounds and looks delicious. The chair drawing is pretty cool.
Oh this is a lovely post! Thank you Iris. Aloha
RedPat, thank you :-)

magiceye, be quick then :-)

Jeanie, now I never knew that!
Well the family "affairs" happened whist I was working full time. I drove from Braunschweig to Wolfsburg to work, then all the way to Göttingen/Hannover and back to Braunschweig.
Also Bro´s and Ingo´s health issues lay in that time.
But in all these times blogging and bloggers helped me through. Especially with Ingo - I could not tell Mum and Bro cuase I would´ve broken down. Only few friends knew.
Either way... Ii really needed a time-out and this job is better - not only paid, but all is better. No more driving, nice colleagues...
Oh, summer is over.

Bill, thank you - why not cook it, too?

Cloudia, thank you and Aloha :-)
My friend, Teague, says things happen with a curse and a blessing. The curse: your parents, hubby, brother being ill, losing your job. The blessing you being able to take of them, and you learned new skills that now bring you joy.
CJ, well, at least Ingo and Bro. My parents really didn´t make it. It was a very tough time.
But you are right with the new skills! 😊
Big Summer Yum !!!! Yez
Cheers
You've had a lot to go through {hug} but have learned a lot through it all. That food looks delicious.
Divers and Sundry, I think we all need to go through such times (esp health-wise) at some point.
Thank you - this community helped me big through it all {hug back}.
Food was super-yummy and so easy to make!
