The city asks for help:
We are to send pics of our flooding-place, so they can reconstruct how it happened and what can be done to prevent it.
This is a first, too.
But here in Braunschweig we are "lucky" - others got flooded way, way worse.
Since days firefighters and THW (Federal Agency for Technical Relief) are out and about to help in other places since days.
On TV tonight they showed a woman who baked loads of cakes so the helpers see their hard work is appreciated.
Whilst our Smurf-chancellor Scholz kept the helpers away from work with all his stupid security in the way when he visited. What did he visit for, does he not have a TV????
Another stupid he managed.... And that was on TV, too!!!
"Warm lies" don´t help, Smurf...
And how much money did he waste for this that could´ve been used to help and rebuild????
Will we ever get a decent chancellor again? After seemingly Merkel forever now him 🤬

You forgot the Firefighters. Most of them are volunteers and more than 90% of our deployments are technical help (less then 5% firefighting). Some guys had a sticker on the private car: „If you screwed yourself drunken on a tree and survive, we cut you out!“ Kind regards, your local fire brigade.

At least seeing some photos lets them know where help and reconstruction is needed and gives maybe a workable plan for the future to prevent flooding again.
Here in Australia, in Queensland there are monsoons and huge floods EVERY YEAR with suffering and houses and lives lost, yet nothing is ever done to take the flood waters away via pipelines and catchment dams.
Politicians hampering rescue work is common here too. Unfortunate.

And why don´t people protest?
Same with the bush-fires, the place must look "nice" for the tourists, whilst back then the Aborigines had controlled fires to stop the big ones. I really don´t understand...

Floods are so damaging. Cleaning up after them.is such hard work. Our county built 7 flood-control dams in the 1970s, and those dams made a miraculous difference, as flooding was a regular event in many communities here. Some good farmland was lost in this project, but I think the loss was well worth the safety provided by the dams. I hope a solution can be found for your area too, Iris.
And I go, thank you for your years of work in the firefighting and rescue field. That is no easy job.
Sue, we had a weekend-relationship for 13 years. Once Ingo´s apartment flooded. Some stinking 3 inches - the smell was bad, yuck.
Years later flood-warning. Ingo put to safety what he could and came to Braunschweig.
"If my apartment floods again I move to Braunschweig with you", he said.
I wished for it - was granted - water so high, it was in the toilet!
This ended our weekend relationship, we got a bigger apartment together here.
