Here in Braunschweig/Germany in general (?) I never heard anyone shouting "Danke!" or such... Meanwhile the drivers are in "cages" that are protected by security glass here... At the cash-out I always greet the humans - a lot of customers wear headphones are just ignore there is still real people... Glad we don´t hugs to that!
I always say hello and thank you to just about everyone. Service is important and should be recognized!

Just about everyone says, hi to the bus driver when getting on and catch you later when getting off. The bus drivers even help you with your bags or backpacks when you get off, they hand them to you once you're off the bus.
Dear friend Iris, I always greet the bus driver with a "Bonjour" or a friendly smile and say, "Merci" when I exit the bus. I love the big cat on that bus!!! Warm hugs and much love to you.

I don't always say hello to the bus driver, sometimes I just nod my head which means the same thing, but I always say thank you when I get off the bus.
